If some posters on this site got their way, we'd have a BYU-esque honor code policy here and have no team by mid-may.

Honor before victory is one thing, nailing players to the wall for minor crap is another.

Besides, Id say we've had 100 years of 'honor', its finally time for some victory.

Not that big of deal in the grand scheme of things.

He'll miss the UNI game.

I would say what David Sims did was slightly worse and he got 1 game. I laugh when people want a guy gone or severely punished for minor offenses. If you were sitting in the Head Coach's seat you'd be singing a different tune. Especially when the player is important, like a Sims or Lattimer. I don't think Rhoads has a problem with bad character on his team so his methods of handling things seem to be working just fine.

I've seen cops arrest a little skinny girl for touching them. I bet they were pretty quick to the trigger when a big football player was mad at them.

****! ****!
This really sucks. I hope it turns out to be somewhat minor, and he isnt kicked off the team. A one game suspension would be best case I imagine.
Lattimer is a key piece in what is going to be a much improved defense.
Do we beat Texas last year without Lattimer??

A one game suspension

Spring game.

The guy has no priors, no reason for the court or the fb program to throw the book at him, especially for something as minor as an assault charge.

Not going to happen. A felony is the only way that would happen.

Spring game likely and maybe UNI game.

Agreed. Also, these kids think they can get away with anything because they are athletes. They need to be put in their place and if CPR starts kicking them off the team or suspending them (not just for "spring ball" for games) while they lose their starting spots im fine with that. The thing that makes me mad is that we are paying for their tuition for them to act like idiots and think they are gods gift from earth. (all scholarship athletes not just ours.)

I'm pretty sure athletic scholarships are paid through an endowment and not through the general fund. I don't think they are getting their tuition through tax money. Now if you are donating to the endowment then I would agree.

Agreed. It puts a great deal of pressure on coaches to do the right thing. That's why, if the NCAA actually cared about something other than money, participation penalties for criminal convictions would be NCAA-mandated, well-defined, and uniform. And penalties would also involve forfeiture of scholarship in proportion to the time suspended.

Of course you would...

So its ok then if they went out got drunk, were driving home and saw a old lady with a flat tire.... Stopped to help here... Then a cop pulls up and can smell booze on there breath and the rest is history.... I find anyone stopping to help someone out honorable...you?

did this happen...probably not...

bottom line we dont know what happened and are ready to cut them loose... again I will say..

Isn't this his second offense? Would this make it worse?

I dont recall anything prior, someone can correct me... i dont see anything else on him in the iowa courts search other than a seat belt ticket.
