I should state that I don't listen to talk radio unless it's sports radio. Then, I'll listen to the local stations. I'm talking from a pure music standpoint.

I don't listen to any talk radio (sports or news), I listen only to music on the radio but I like local radio for the DJ personalities and the local flavor. Satellite radio just plays music straight through and if they have a DJ it is someone probably from LA or NYC that I don't really car about.

I do. I think they play a good mix of new rock and old rock. My wife has satellite radio in her car and I hate it. I like the local flavor and the personalities on local radio (except BSox, he doesn't know crap about half the stuff he tries to talk about).

At work I'll flip over to the last half hour of their show. BSox's sports segments are at times a joke, half his information is wrong. I too was wondering what happened with Amy as she was the Cyclone voice on the show. She always seemed to be part of the whole show as far as commenting during the non-news segments. Then she was just on at the end to do news and now gone. Although Tara and the other girl I think Tracey voices are so similar to Amy that if they didn't say a name I wouldn't know the difference.

I was listening to the bus 100.3 and Heather does the day DJ shift on that station. I assume she still is on kxno (i wouldn't know as I don't listen to the show) and just doing this on top of that.

I think the better question is who even listens to 103.3 anymore? That station in the late 90's to the early 2000's was great. Always playing new rock and never playing crap like Guns N Roses. Satellite radio is worth every penny, especially if you live in Des Moines.

Fun fact - well, fun if you're old, like me - this station was originally located in Pella, and was a typical small town easy listening/local news/high school sports station. When the owners wanted to sell, they brought in some hired guns who fired pretty much the entire air and sales staff, switched the format to high-energy Top 40, and started pushing "Des Moines" on-air instead of Pella. As soon as the station sold, the new owners turned it into a format for old farts (oldies and more easy listening) with all the programming and air talent remoted by satellite from Texas.

That's now your Lazer 103.3 rock station.

Is there a song skip limit on the Amazon Prime service?

Not that I know of, although I haven't used it a whole lot, and only thumbs-downed a few songs, and then it immediately went to the next song.

*Edit: Just went into it, and hit the skip button (not thumbs down) about 20 times in a row, never stopped me.

Speaking of Satellite Radio, what the heck happened to it? I had my daughters car for a few days and she has it. I listened to it and they talk and promote crap all the time. I had it a few years ago and there was no talking or promotions just music. And it seems, except for the Deep Tracks station they play the same thing they did years ago. Very disappointed.

I assume they do that on the less popular stations to help generate money. I listen to Octane and never once have I heard any sort of advertisement.

Came in to thread with high hopes. Now disappointed. Looking for more of this:

It seems this station is trying to turn into KGGO lately. I sometimes hear newer songs on KGGO. Why can't we have a station that plays current rock with a few of the "older" ones mixed in instead of the other way around? Is there no more new rock?

Rock is dead and so is the mainstream. Listening to music is about discovering new music and pushing your boundaries and evolving your tastes now. Over the air radio doesn't give you the chance to do that.

It's not actual ads, it them advertising the Sirius limited engagement radio stations (that sometimes never go away, Pearl Jam) so it's still commercial free, just not always straight music on some of the non-DJ channels.

The talk and LA/NY stations run ads but music is either ad free or Sirius related.

I've heard Amy on 93.3 in the mornings. For a while she was on 93.3 and then would jump on 103.3 just to do the news. There didn't seem to be any drama so I'm not sure what's up.

There is no skip limit. You can go forward or back in a playlist as many times as you want. There is even a button that will show you all of the lyrics to each song as it's playing.

It was KFMG in a prior life. It had a great mix of rock, blues and local.

KGGO is hard to listen to anymore. The new ownership is doing their best to run that station into the ground.

Amy made that morning show halfway worth listening to.
