Leon Bond committed

For someone who hasn’t seen him play, what’s his offense like? Obviously can shoot the three. Is his game more open threes, twos off screens or does he have some slashing to the basket in his game?

75% FT.

Is this a Heise role replacement? TIA

Bond is from Wauwatosa, WI. He went east and played a year for Tony Bennett at Virginia (teammate of Blake Buchanan) before playing the last two years at UNI.

He averaged 12ppg and 5 rpg this year with a couple assists, a steal and a block per game. He went 46-127 (36%) from 3.

He’s a similar size to Heise (6’5”) and probably fills that defensive wing off the bench role, although I don’t think he rebounds or defends as well as Heise (so far- we’ll see what TJ gets out of him)
I think he is actually as good of a defender and rebounder. Led UNI in rebounds last year and was MVC all defense team

4.7 rebounds was a team high?
Playing as slow as UNI did, that's actually a big number. UNIs leader is usually around 5.

Biggest key for Leon is going to be playing hard all the time. When he's engaged and plays hard, he's excellent. There are times when he's very passive and gets disinterested. The natural tools are all there and very evident, maybe he unlocks more of it.

He and Jake are super close so the money must have made a big difference.

If he is not playing hard at ISU, he's gonna get himself in the dog house and ride the pine. I think the Hilton crowds will motivate him.
