Well boys the ugly truth is that Royce White is a talent but he sure is not the second coming of Marcus Fizer thats for sure...

Fizer and Tinsley won 33 games and this team will be lucky to win 17 games...

It is what it is as they say, this team is just not very good...

Impossible. Several posters on this very site told me that Royce would be one and done at ISU.

Let's see..Royce White is averaging 23 points and 12.5 rebounds a game in his first two ever collegiate games. I think he'll be good...

Royce is going to be very good, but lets hope he doesn't end up like Brackins. What I mean by that is, lets hope he isn't on losing teams.

I can't see Royce White getting a first round guarantee next summer... if the NBA exists then

But Fizer had a jumper... haven't seen that from Royce.

What concerns me is the Iowa State staff might just be going after the highest rated recruits they can find regardless of position and fit. There are no true pass first PGs in next years class.

I totally understand accepting transfers White and Clyburn... but some of the others I'm having a hard time understanding.

Especially after next year it seems like we'll have a roster full of highly ranked PFs and scoring guards.

If anything... lets face it over these next few years we need a balanced team.

JUCO guys like Deverell Bigs (a true PG) and Alonzo Traylor (a replacement for Godfrey) are the type of glue guys that ought to be getting the 12th and 13th ride... but they don't have a bunch of stars by their name.

Let's face it: we have a awfully talented team that played absolutely flat last night. Give them time to gel and learn their roles. They haven't been playing together very long at all. Lastly, chill the **** out.

Too bad one more non conference loss (other than Michigan) and its already too late. We would have to win something like 10 conference games and while we might have the athleticism... we dont have the basketball talent to do that IMO.

I hope Im wrong and they learn how to play REAL basketball really fast.

The point is, this should have been the expectation from the start -- improvement over last year's team. So many people blowing this team up to unreasonable expectations on this board, I was fully expecting a ridiculous meltdown -- and that was before the loss last night.

Maybe now we can quit hearing ridiculous stuff like "in the hunt for the conference championship" and "Final Four". Just be happy if they can improve this season and if they surprise, great!
To be fair this was the expectation from some of us,which is why we haven't lit the oven and insertd our heads. Talking about it last year, there were people excited that with the transfers, we'd have a shot at the NIT and gradual improvement as a team. The lack of effort and basketball-sense on the court yesterday sucked, but I'll wait til later in the season to assess if we've improved. And I'll be happy with any post-season if we get it,considering the last six years.

It should have been but it wasn't. That's what I'm getting at with this thread.

It was for many, but there were too many who kept building off of each other with the hype machine.

Again, it was for many -- case in point:

The problem is that there were way too many in the other camp and they had to come crashing down.

On the lows it is never as bad as it seems, on the highs it is never as good as it seems.

The NCAA may take 5 Big 12 teams and and the NIT one or two more. We need to finish no lower than sixth or seventh in the big 12. That will mean a conference record no worse than 8-10 if we do very well in non conference. Every game at this point is a must as many will be close in score while playing slow ball.

Interesting that this supposed Cyclone "fan" didn't have anything to say about a 32 point win today...Or, you know, a kind of important football game Friday night.

It was soooo funny knowing that all of the people complaining on here, piling on after a bad loss, were doing this from a post made by a hawk fan....

Sad sad sad people, come on pay attention to what people say. It's like ol' clonedude pos, he did not type a single keystroke about beating Okie State, but was on here blasting away when the MBB team was struggling. Of course he went away as soon as we took control.

Hmmmm, I wonder what that really says about these two "fans?"

You make an EXTREMELY good point about clonedude not posting anything since the football game. Maybe a coincidence, but probably not. He usually had threads pointing out negatives during the game or shortly after when we were losing.
