I hate the hawks. So yes.
They aren't religious - just sub-human.

Their fans are also the worst, hands down.
And therefore...?
A WITCH
School district basically sides with the coach and blames the ref.

I was confused when I went to my first Minnesota High School soccer game and only saw two officials. They appeared to be covering for being one AR short by having the two officials work opposite ends/sides of the field as hybrid center refs/assistant refs. I quickly learned that that is the way they staff high school games. I have started giving these refs a hell of a lot more slack because staffing like that is just setting the refs up for failure. It is difficult enough to call offsides properly when you are an AR. When you have the center ref's responsibilities as well it is nearly impossible to get the close offsides calls right. You are constantly out of position for one or the other and your can't give adequate attention to both areas simultaneously.Just reading this thread it's clear to me the majority of you have never stepped onto a field as an official. These people are human and have split seconds to make judgement calls with only five man crews. It's extremely difficult and inevitably penalties are missed.
People want public condemnation of guys doing the best they can given the circumstance. These are people constantly dealing with harrassment already. I quit refereeing after being followed out to my car by a deranged family member after a girls soccer match. Crazy guy was accusing me of being paid off by the home team. It was my first time being to that school in my life and 100% idgaf who wins that game. No bad calls were made (I followed up with crew and coaches) and I barely made enough to break even after travel was accounted for.
High school sports is never going to have adequate replay to handle blown calls. If you can't live with that then maybe the games shouldn't be played. Keep in mind I've never been cussed out by a player. Think about that. You care more than the kid playing the game does.
Give me a break. Culpability for what? The ref missing a call? Should have been a penalty, no doubt. But I’ve been to high school football games almost every Friday night going back what feels like forever now and have never seen a kid get ejected for targeting. I guarantee their coaches don’t coach that. If this was any other school I’m sure you wouldn’t be “maddened by them escaping culpability”
Actually having called a game more than a handful of times it was incredibly efficient. Particularly if you had a good working relationship with the other ref. While it isn't ideal it is not nearly as hard as you may think.I was confused when I went to my first Minnesota High School soccer game and only saw two officials. I’m sure you have a personal vendetta against Dowling like most seem to have. It was a 20 point game early in the 2nd quarter when it happened, so while clearly on the verge of a blowout, you can’t just tell kids to stop playing hard (you shouldn’t ever tell a kid not to play hard) with that much time left. Does Scates getting into it with the TCU player and them basically throwing punches at each other reflect poorly on Campbell and Patterson? The Dowling kid made a mistake, and it’s a joke that a penalty wasn’t called, but saying it reflects poorly on Dowling coaches is laughable. Unless you’re going to say every targeting penalty in football reflects poorly on coachesIf you're out there in the middle of a game that is, was, and always was going to be a total blowout trying to be a big tough guy and take a kid out like that, that reflects very poorly on the coaches.

I would say that what Scates did does reflect poorly on Campbell. Players should not throw punches period. These are players that coaches recruited, so bad actions reflect on college coaches. Campbell needs to sit Scates this week for at least part of the game along with some punishment. Never an excuse to swing a punch in a game.
The other guy thru the punch.....scares was not innocent in the scuffle however.
Scates was in the very next series per someone on here a few days agoI would say that what Scates did does reflect poorly on Campbell. Players should not throw punches period. Did you purposely ignore where I said the kid made a mistake or just leaving that out to try to make it look like I'm saying something I'm not? The post I was replying to said the Dowling kid shouldn't have been making a hit like that in a blowout (like that matters, should never be making a hit like that ever). But I can say with 100% certainty that the Dowling coaches don't coach their players to hit like that and also doubt they were conspiring to knock the kid out of the game.So in your opinion that hit was simply a result of "playing hard"?
What does your rant have to do with the referee missing a call? Stay at the kids table.
