excited for the facebook posts about how they were so connected to the singer and how emotional it has made them that theyve passed like every time a musician dies. BRB looking up what they sang so I can post about it on social media.

Linkin Park/Jay Z was the best

If you don't know a linkin park song. You would have to be 80 years old or a shut in.

Damn. Saw them in concert a few times. He was really good live and seemed like he left it all out on the stage.

I wish people could get the help they need before making a decision they can't change.

In all honesty - if these hella-creative people got the help they need, music and art would be very bland.

Yeah, I've gotten pretty depressed before (ended up getting medicated for it which helped a bunch) but never really contemplated ending it all because I really don't want to die before my mother.

That sounds quite dark so here's a picture of a kitten.

But that picture is of a dead kitten you soulless fiend.

Faint is my favorite song, every time I hear it I feel like trying to run a mile before it's over.

If it wasn't for the jay z collaboration I couldn't. I would guess most of my friends couldn't either. In fact I would bet most people couldn't. Do they even play them on the radio?

You're either trolling or must not listen to any radio thats later than the 80s. They seem to be on all the time. Albeit they were huge in the late 90s/early 2k, they're still relevant.

Listen to Sirius all day everyday and haven't heard them in forever. I think most younger people wouldn't know who they are but I highly doubt 20% ages 18 to 45 could name a song.

Yes, quite a bit. Their last few album each had at least 1 pretty large alternative/pop song end up on new music stations (they've changed their music style over time), and their alt-rock was spammed constantly on new and rock radio in the early 2000's.

I mean, they are a multi-platinum band with >70MM worldwide album sales...

Agree. Had this discussion the other day. Depression is a hell of a mental state. You talk yourself in and out of things with high frequency.
Does anyone actually know if he suffered from depression? If he did I would like to know if they changed his medication recently.

My top 5 Lincoln Park songs:

1. Leave out all the Rest (listen to the lyrics today and it's almost foreshadowing)
2. Faint - a close 2nd. Loved when ISU MBB used this in the intro
3. What I've Done
4. In the End
5. One Step Closer (first song I heard which got me into them).

Listen to them on YouTube for an hour and I'd bet you'd remember at least 5 of their songs. I did that with Cornell, I'd heard of Audioslave and Soundgarden but couldn't really name any of their songs.

I don't follow them recently, but I've heard my daughter singing along to their single Heavy. Just glancing at the lyrics is a little creepy given the events:

I don't like my mind right now
Stacking up problems that are so unnecessary
Wish that I could slow things down
I wanna let go but there's comfort in the panic
And I drive myself crazy
Thinking everything's about me
Yeah I drive myself crazy
'Cause I can't escape the gravity

I'm holding on
Why is everything so heavy?
Holding on
To so much more than I can carry
I keep dragging around what's bringing me down
If I just let go, I'd be set free
Holding on
Why is everything so heavy?

Sad news. I kind of outgrew their sound, but I know they still had a pretty respectable fanbase.
Suicide is such a tough thing because the people left behind are stuck looking for answers where there aren't any. It seems unfair to burden anyone with the guilt and sadness and anger that comes with losing someone to suicide, but I hesitate to call it selfish because I don't know what was going on inside his head. Maybe it all just got to be too much.

Have you seen the Movie Transformers? They provide two hit songs for the first and second movies that are in the movies during important scenes. I mean there is a ton of music I don't listen to that I at least know what songs the singer sings or band sings.
