It’s sort of sad how many don’t notice this pattern, or refuse to acknowledge this pattern. It’s the same issues with discipline - football discipline, coaching discipline, scheme discipline, time/score discipline - game after game, year after year. Literally directly leads to losses, repeatedly.

Remember only winning 7 games last year with the most talent we’ve ever had? It should be really (painfully) obvious why.
Heresy against St. Matthew garners a vicious rebuke from his followers.

Campbell needs to bring in a new offensive coordinator and also separate himself from that side of the ball and let them operate similar to what he does with defense. He can over see all as ceo and also focus himself at practice on speacial teams. Obviously with this plan the OC hire needs to be good.
I don't know anymore. I would almost prefer if Campbell has any appeal left whatsoever, that he actually goes out and pulls a McDermott on us. The guy is probably a good coach and can have success elsewhere, but much like McDermott, both parties need a fresh start.

I'm ready for some hoops.

Well, double header of sorts tomorrow. Gals play Columbia in the morning at 11:00, not the cupcake the name might suggest, this won't be some 40 point win by any means. Guys play Milwaukee that evening. Will probably tune in for that one to.

I have this thought a lot but then think to myself what Campbell has done for this program and levels we have reached which we sure as hell didn’t get under McDermott. As of now Campbell is best head coach for this program but he needs to make difficult coach change decisions and step back from the offensive day to day.

Totally agree. CMC is great on player development, motivation, just generally taking care of the guys.

Be the CEO Matt. Heacock is the COO of your defense and it works great. Find a smart OC to be COO of hte offense.

You are CRAZY and need to put down the meth if you want CMC to go.....

Him and Heacock have brought up the greatest run on program history. Matt needs to change the offense. He made an instant change after the Notre Dame game when we got manhandled. Now we are NEVER being pushed around like that (maybe o-line in short yardage).

Change on offense is coming.

It (and ST) have needed changes for 6 years. Will he finally have an eye for what changes are needed?

Let’s hope so.

Or we find some NFL skill position talent to mask our lack of details.

Hey man, we all get it. But Campbell isn’t going anywhere. That’s just how business works. So you make changes to the executive team.
If changes aren’t made to the executive team, the chief executive (e.g. Campbell) will be gone. JP has a lot riding on Cytown…a 3 win football program (ISU will get boatraced by TCU) is not a promising way to kick off a mega $ project.

Bring in Jason Candle. Pay him . It almost happened 7 years ago but Jason got the Toledo job. Almost took the Miami o coordinator job last year.

This.

Encourage the exit, because it is obvious he isn't the guy for ISU anymore.

His press conferences are the tell.

This program is a joke if we continue to allow this godawful OC to represent it.
Not saying you are wrong with your thought but its comical to think Manning is solo in charge of the offense. The head man has final say on the offense and those are the plays on his belt. He sure as hell isn’t telling Heacock what to run from that.

The thing about iowa… is that they can beat their **** teams…. We can’t lol
We're trying to run the same exact offense and gameplan as Iowa.

In the same state and recruiting area as Iowa.

With fewer resources and poorer media coverage.

Brilliant.

1. Trust in Matt he will find a way.
2. Give it time we are so close.
3. Do you want to go back to those blow out losses?
4. No one else could coach at Iowa State as well as Matt.
5. He earned a long leash he could deliver 0 wins next two seasons and feel no pressure.
6. You are crazy if you want him to go! No matter how many years the exact same issues continue.

Did I miss anything?

I didn’t even mention the players being more concerned with quitting down the fans than noticing the fans are all yelling because you are all out there ready to get set and snap the ball, the red has wound the clock and tech was all back in their huddle. GET SET AND SNAP THE ******* BALL!!!

Not me. I want Heacock as our DC. If the offensive staff can turn over somewhat and become reasonably competent ISU will be fine.

Campbell is great at identifying under the radar talent. Campbell is pretty good at getting kids with similar or better program offers to come to ISU. Campbell is pretty poor at in game management, and his offensive philosophy of piling up three and outs with the hopes of burning clock and leaving the defense no margin for error is terrible.

I think Matt can do some things really well. But it’s much more the high level stuff. He’s not good at the tactical level. And that’s Ok provided he can find a good offensive mind and let him do his thing. I think he also needs one of the assistants to be making decisions on clock management type stuff. He just isn’t great at it.

My take of the game and the whole season.

Defense top 5 - unbelievable job by these guys this year. They did seem to allow points at the most important times we don’t need them too. Also seemed like we blitzed less this year.

Special teams - not much positive but kickoff and punt coverage was good. Young kicker so hard to say much about him but my gosh when they are punting within their 5 yard line all year, blitz the damn punter. We don’t block anyways so blitz the dam punter

Offense - really missed having a good rushing game and tight ends. X had an amazingly season statistically and will probably be playing on sundays but needed someone else to help him out. Did also make ALOT of big drops in important situations. Made some amazing catches this year. O line didn’t block well for the run but I thought they blocked well for passing. Dekkers seems to have all the talent in the world but really lacks on qb iq. Not the nicest thing to say but damn! He’s more talented than purdy imo but really missed purdy this year. Dekkers struggle’s picking up the blitz and holds the ball way too long and it just killed sooooo many drives this year. Doesn’t seem to make right decisions on read option. Doesn’t run the damn ball when he has a wide open field in front of him which absolutely amazes me especially how he played last year. Dekkers was the guy I was most excited for and definitely the one I’m most disappointed in watching. Seemed to regress throughout the season and even maybe from last year. Maybe try to give Becct a chance nothing to lose.

Campbell- is here for the long haul and if you want someone else you’re crazy or never went through the torment of the previous Campbell years. Does need to make some coaching changes though and if he doesn’t and we continue to suck then I can see him on the hot seat by fans.

Manning - 1st down run up the middle
2nd down - either run up the middle or wr screen to hutchinson
Always get ourselves into third downs consistently.

Throw the ******* ball downfield.
Sometimes I almost feel like his play calling is intentionally trying to make us lose. If running up the middle doesn’t work then maybe try running to the outside or a rollout or option or ANYTHING other than trying to run the ball up the middle. Our redzone offense is atrocious.

2nd straight season of having season tickets which I love but damn this year sucked. Last year was disappointing but at least we took care of business at home outside of Iowa game. This year we played awful at home. The fans did their best. Every time we really got going some stupid penalty or interception thrown or quick score allowed happens and we’re deflated. Wish we could have more games like last year especially vs Oklahoma st where the team fed off the energy in the stadium
