Looking for a piece of glass that is somewhere around 3 feet by 4 feet. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. Craigslist so far is failing. And I am on a limited budget!

It will be used for a coffee table of sorts

Thank you!

Sorry that was my first thought also. Just try your local glass repair shop.

You want to go to a glass shop for this. You don't want to buy something off of craigslist that you aren't 100% sure what type of glass it is. Mainly, you don't want regular window/plate glass for a coffee table. They'll be able to set you up with exactly what you need.

I've got a bunch of different sizes of glass in Cedar Rapids, PM me your email and I'll send some pictures and sizes, we can discuss cost later, sounds like shipping may be the only cost.

Yeah you're going to want tempered or safety glass for a table top. Voice of experience talking here.

Yep. I was looking for something to cover an antique end table. I went to the glass place and asked for plexiglass. They asked what it was for and said tempered glass would be a better choice because it wouldn't scratch as easy. The cost was less than I imagined but can't remember how much.

Thanks for all the help guys. I found a nice looking piece on Craigslist I'm checking out today. If it doesn't work out I'll be contacting those who have glass.

I would think it would be better to go someplace like Orning just because you would want the edges ground down and smooth. You aren't going to want sharp edges and if you get something from somebody else you will most likely need to get that done anyway.

You are bound and determined to get it on craigslist. So why did you ask for advice, all of which was "DON'T GET IT ON CRAIGSLIST!"

Only a couple said to not get it there. They mostly said make sure its tempered. I'm gonna take half an hour out of my day to check out a piece of glass that's free...

NOOOOO...if you ask for advice, you must take it, no matter what. Otherwise don't bother asking. Like this one time, I asked for advice on what kind of car to get. Someone said I shouldn't get a car, I should get a tattoo instead. Well, I asked for advice, I had to take it. Sheesh, I hate that tattoo.
