I think his point was even though we have easy games left the teams ahead of us don't have the brutal schedule we have had.

Everyone has the same schedule, ours was the most front loaded of the good teams. We may likely slip to 4-5 Monday, but after that we'll move to well over .500.

Going to be a lot of teams tight for 2nd-5th place.

Been playing with that since i saw this thread... and yeah.. gut says 3rd or 4th, 2nd would take help, and probably a good gap between 4th and 5th.

I did find one scenario where we win the title. It was a long shot, but not a huge long shot. Otherwise, we seem to have found the same results.

2nd is possible, but Texas beating KU put a dent in our chances. Texas game at home is a must win. And we need KU to beat everyone.

Right now, ISU only has 1 game (home vs Texas) against the current top 3 teams in the league.
WVU has 5! KSU has 3. OSU has 3. OU still has 2 left @KU/vs UT. By that admission ISU has IMO a great shot at finishing 4th, and a decent shot at getting 3rd.

There are some tough road games out there, but the Clones have a shot to rack up a lot of wins from here on out. If they can win at WVU, they have a decent shot to go on a 5 game win streak, or a 5 out 6 stretch. That will thrust them back up near the top.

It's not always about who you still have left to play, but also who you don't have left on the schedule either.
I was looking over most of the teams remaining schedules yesterday, and WVU has 3 wins already vs Tech and TCU, and another against Baylor.

K-State only has 2 games left with Tech/TCU. Clones still have 3 left with TCU/Tech.
Both KSU/WVU play Kansas in the next 7-10 days as well, and those will likely be assured loses.

OSU looks to be a bad road team right now. 5 road games left, but 2 of them are @Tech/@TCU. The game on Monday is looming large...especially if ISU can steal on the road. That would be a MAJOR launching point for ISU to climb the ladder.

Huge game for us to steal come Monday night. It would give us a leg up on OK State with them left to come to our place, and several more winnable road games in front of us.

Guard play and senior leadership are keys to winning down the stretch, and I love the way our young guards are playing-Kane will figure out his new role with Monte handling the ball more and Melvin will exert his senior leadership.
February and March will be fun

For us to finish higher than 3rd we need to steal one or two games on the road. Unfortunately there are only two opportinities left with @OSU and @K-State

You're wrong. Other than @OSU, our hardest games are behind us.

The home game versus Texas will be a handful. ISU does not match up well against them at all. KU punched ISU in the mouth and got punched in the mouth by Texas. ISU will need to play their best in that game to win. From what I saw out there yesterday, Texas is better than ISU.

The road games @Okie State, @West Virginia, @Baylor and @Kansas State will all be a challenge. None of those would be surprising losses. We tend to blow off West Virginia after the season they had last year but that would be a mistake. They are playing good ball and have an excellent coach.

To get up into the Top 3, ISu will need to leapfrog a few teams. It is possible since every team in the conference is dropping some unexpected games here and there. But Okie State and Baylor could also make big runs from the bottom half and be in the mix, too. I wouldn't pencil many games in as easy wins right now.

23-7 (11-7)

I think that's a lock for 4th, possibly 3rd, in conference. 6 seed in NCAA, maybe slightly higher considering we will have beaten 7 or more AP top 25 teams.

Before yesterday's game I predicted that we would probably go 9-2 the rest (losses most likely coming at OSU, and on at WV/KSU/Baylor, but that 10-1 was still very possible. I still think we finish 8-2 or 9-1 from here on out. Look at how good the teams that beat us have been playing! Texas is playing great, but I don't think we'll lose again in Hilton this year.

Every home game from here on out is a must win and I expect them to win every home game. At TCU should also be a win. Right there is 10 wins. WVU kinda worries me but that should also be a win. If they split between Baylor and Kstate, that's 12 conference wins. That should be good for at least 3rd in the conference.

Bottom line is they need to protect Hilton and win the road games they should win (TCU, WVU). Win a couple tossup road games (OSU, Baylor, KSU) and we are right there with Texas for 2nd.

I'm looking at the schedule for ISU and the rest of the Big XII, and I can't see the Cyclones finishing better than 4th in the conference before the tourney. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Predicting the remainder of the schedule and figuring out how the rest of the league will do over the same course of time is a futile exercise. I didn't think Texas and Baylor would win yesterday so predicting anything seems like ******* in the wind. The schedule gets easier but it's no cakewalk.

Everyone should fill this out and see what they get. I thought for sure we could finish 3rd or higher in my mind, but I filled this thing out entirely twice and the first time it had us in a tie for 4th place with OSU, but we got the 5th seed in the Big 12 because OSU had the tiebreaker somehow.

The second time I filled it all out, it had us in a tie for 3rd place, but we got the 4th seed in the tourney also because we lost the tiebreaker somehow.

So I think it's harder for us to get 3rd or better than some of us might think?
