Everyone should fill this out and see what they get. I thought for sure we could finish 3rd or higher in my mind, but I filled this thing out entirely twice and the first time it had us in a tie for 4th place with OSU, but we got the 5th seed in the Big 12 because OSU had the tiebreaker somehow.

The second time I filled it all out, it had us in a tie for 3rd place, but we got the 4th seed in the tourney also because we lost the tiebreaker somehow.

So I think it's harder for us to get 3rd or better than some of us might think?

This. A win tomorrow would go a long way...

We either need to finish 2nd/3rd or 6th. I think we can beat any team in the conference on a neutral court. Except KU. I don't want them in the 2nd round. I would rather face them in the third.

I just found a way that TCU could win the conference. It involves them going 10-8 and everyone else but WVU going 9-9. WVU went 8-10

Here's a case:

Iowa State drops one game for the rest of the season. @OSU, @KSU, vs. UT, vs. OSU look to be the toughest games (also @WVU), and in this best-case scenario, ISU loses one to finish 13-5.

That should also take care of WVU, OSU, and KSU hanging around us in the standings, so the only teams that may be ahead of us for 2nd place are OU and UT.

UT's losses to come are at least @ ISU, @ KU, @ OU, with a shot at @ KSU as well. That's either 13-5 or 12-6.

OU's losses to come are @ OSU and @ KU. That's 13-5.

It could be a three-way tie for 2nd place between ISU, OU, and UT - with each team beating the other two at home and losing to each of the other two on the road. I think that means seeding for the Big 12 Tournament's #2, #3, and #4 seeds would be randomly drawn. Knowing ISU's luck, that means we can expect a 4 seed. But we could still finish 2nd in the conference if we play great basketball to the finish with a much easier schedule.

According to espn.com RPI.

Average RPI of teams we have already played- 34.25.

Average RPI of teams we still have to play- 81.0.

I figure TCU, TTU and WVU all have one upset victory at home. (Upset victory meaning wins over KU, OU, OSU, TX or ISU.) Just as long as it isn't ISU, they have a good shot at being a 2 or 3 seed in Big 12 tourney. We do not want to be the four seed. It will be a "pick-um" game.

I'm looking at the schedule for ISU and the rest of the Big XII, and I can't see the Cyclones finishing better than 4th in the conference before the tourney. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Well, I just booked a flight to arrive Thursday morning because I am fairly certain well be in the 4/5 game. I see Kansas, Texas, somebody, then us. (In fairness, in the non-con season, I thought we would be fourth behind ku osu and baylor). At the end of the day though, I think you'll need to be 12-6 to finish 3rd and I see us at 10-8 and maybe 11-7 if we play lights out the rest of the way.

Who are we loosing to? If we win Monday we have a decent chance of winning out. I mean who else do we play that we shouldn't be favored? The only ones I can think of are @KState and @Baylor but I think we're favored in both.

People talking about Texas at home need to remember Kansas is the only team to win in Hilton this season and last season. Team is almost impossible to beat at home.

Yes - the 2/3 is the place to be. I'd like to see us get a shot at KU on Saturday in Kansas City. If we were to play against them like we did this past Monday, minus the Allen Fieldhouse factor, it could be a classic.

I think he was meaning that not everyone's big 12 schedule was as front heavy as ISU. After Monday we will be halfway through and we will have already played the toughest 5 games on our big 12 schedule.

Yeah, I think we can go 7-2 and perhaps 8-1 in the second half. I think we're okay. I would like to replay that KU game at home, but other than that, I think we've done a great job. We need to steal one on the road and OSU is ripe tomorrow night.

At the beginning of the season, coming into the first exhibition game, I think we ALL would have taken 24-6 with a Top15 RPI, prior to the conference tournament. I still think that would be a very good outcome.
