If they have 200k for a player, they have 1.3 mil for a coach, especially one that's the real reason for their success.

It takes that much to cover for a 5-19 head coach. Nice to see Auburn knows the reason for their success as well. It sure isn't the HC!

Easy solution: Salary Cap for an entire fooball coaching staff, and a cap on incentives. And make it something that is within the budgets of the top half of the schools in the BCS, not just Texas, USC, Florida and Auburn.

Guz Malzahn, IMO is in a three way tie for the best offensive minds in football. Guys a genius. Seriously. RichRod, Chip Kelly and him have brilliant offensive minds. Chip is the only one who has shown any sort of defense though. He may be the best coach in America. I like Nick Saban a lot, but I don't know if he could do what he does at a school with somewhat small tradition.

If Gene learned nothing else during his time in Ames, he learned the value of quality assistants...

Haha what? Nick Saban was at Michigan State not that long ago.

And he was pretty mediocre there. I will give him the ten wins even though he was only there for 9 of them but prior to that his win totals were, 6, 6, 7, 6. Not exactly what he did at LSU and Bama. That was my point. CHip Kelly was responsible for what Oregon has become. Yes, he has a ton of money, but that doesn't always generate success. Rich Rod has also built somethings out of nothings. Don't get me wrong, Nick Saban is an incredible football coaches but I think he operates better with the tradition while someone like RR, to this point at least, does not.

Yeah, that Michigan was a real nothing before he got there...

I'm not discrediting Gus Malzahn, but there are probably a lot of OC that could have been exceptional with Cam Newton as their QB.

Apparently there is no price too high for winning at Auburn. How much will they pay Cecil to get another year from Cam? $5 million? $10 million? And will anyone care as long as they are entertained?

I'm pretty sure the NCAA won't care as long as they are making lots of money.
