If all it takes is average numbers to take a 21-3 lead, what's the point of beating your chest on the radio about it?

They did what had to be done to take the lead. Then they started clicking and scored twice more. He sounds like a bitter little third grader.

So you think Stanzi and Iowa's running game looked good on Sat?

Not at all. Stanzi missed some wide open receivers, receivers still dropped balls, and the running game will continue to be patchwork all season. But Matt is taking all credit away from the entire team. He is trying to **** all over Iowa just for the hell of it

The way this guy is putting it, they did nothing right. ISU did it all wrong and Iowa will go 0-9 the rest of the way.

You don't score 35 points doing nothing right.

Iowa handed us an *** kicking, but 6 turnovers helps ALOT. 6 turnovers equals 6 drives that ISU handed Iowa the ball. To break that down more it's a whole half of football that ISU didn't play.

Thanks for letting us know what a turnover. This is the definition of redundancy.

Yup. No one who watched the game will tell you that he played "great."

But he did throw 4 TDs. He did throw for right around his career average of YPG. He got the job done.

MP is being a ***** for the sake of being a *****. I know it's his job to stir the pot and get people to call in/listen - but there are better ways of doing it than being a moron. Granted, his lunacy has some entertainment value - but my iPod will be on for awhile on the way home from work now.

I listened to the segment for the first time since the M&M split. I must say, I'm not sure which was more idiotic. Matt or some of the callers.

People actually listen to and enjoy this guy?

To that point Austen doesn't go from the best QB in the state to that without the defense making him. Certainly the throws were bad, but the coverage and scheme made it that way. Just don't see many orher fanbases use their own ineptness as means to take credit away from the opposition.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? Have you not listened to sound off after ISU beats uofi? The uofi fanbase actually blamed the ISU band in 2005. Most uofi fans haven't admitted that ISU has ever actually beat them.

Sorry but Matt saying the 2nd half stats "didn't matter" proves to me he really has no clue about what he "saw on Saturday" Even though Kenny seems to have a problem with me, I'm glad he was actually attempting to shutdown the mouth from the east coast. (and no I don't mean Marty)

This is actually a good thread recap of what was going on today, even Cyclone fans have to admit, Matt has lost alot of credibility with the venom he spewed today

Calling sportstalkmatt - Hawkeye Lounge

So in previous years, ISU has had decent stats against a lot of teams, but uofi fan has said that it was only because ISU was behind by a lot and it skewed the stats. Now that it is the case with uofi, it should matter? When a team gets ahead by two or three scores, they change their game. You saw that Saturday.

To say the stats in the 2nd half don't matter is laughable at best. WHY do they play two halves of football then? I would have loved to hear the spin if Iowa State would have come out and played lights out in the 2nd half. Iowa was handed interceptions but they still had to capitalize and that is what is being lost in this whole argument. Listen, I take my hat off to Matt, he got everybody ****** off at him yesterday and here we are talking about on a message board

How old is Matt? How many markets has he been in at his young professional age? Um, yeah. Maybe he just likes to "travel."

Did not listen, but I'll take the callers in that bet anytime. If it is a coaches' call-in show, I take the callers for being more idiotic and give you 20-1 odds.

Caveat: If the host is Marty, then all bets are off.

It's worth a listen - if for anything, to realize that Matt is one of the stupidest, bull-headed people in the world and that you should never waste your time on his "show" again.

From what I heard of the show yesterday, Matt is working to fil
Marty's shoes.

When we bounce the ball off the defenders backs, it man we are unbable to loft the ball over the defender. Most of AAs passes go at the same level above ground. This makes it more difficult to complete touch passes.

Your right on Wes...The biggest problem with AA is that he is NOT suited to running the spread offense and unless he improves a lot .... its not gonna be a very good conference run this season....

Now I sure wish that the kansas state game was in ames instead of a road game in k-city.

Marty's shoes.

It was funny because his points were fairly absurd in most cases and he contradicted himself about 30 times, which seems to be the norm for him.

Poor Kenny. Poor, poor Kenny.

He's stirring the pot right now, but doesn't appear to have the intellectual horsepower to pull it off.

Marty was smart enough to yell to cover his absurd points.

The thing that Matt's praying for is that Iowa sucks from here on out. He'll feel vindicated and like he did something.

i agreed with almost all of Matt's points about the game. i even said as much to the people next to me at the game and the tailgate afterwards. The game basically became irrelevant after the 2nd turnover in the 3rd Q.

Iowa's defense was great Saturday and probably will be the rest of the year. But don't confuse that with the offense being great. They did a good job of capitalizing on good field position and running over our defense late in the 3rd through the end of the game.

Simply put, I think matt's comments are falling on deaf ears since the hawks won by a large margin. i think people are looking more at the score than how the teams played. If opponents don't give Iowa a short field and they dare Stanzi to beat them, they (opponents) will be successful this year.

My advice to matt, save the tape from yesterday, play it back after Iowa's next loss or two and see if they agree with you then.
