Hurts, Mahomes and Burrow don't have that? But the narrative with them isn't that they're just benefiting from being in the right system with the right weapons around them..... this is a terrible, tired take from non-experts.
Never said those three are not great QBs and don’t have a lot talent around them.
Don’t know what narrative you’re seeing that says these guys are not benefitting from ’being in the right system’. Inferring that Philly, Cincy, and KC are simply winning because of their QB talent is a new, terrible take.

There was a great article on The Athletic concerning Brock’s ability to win games in college with a team that had less overall talent compared to their opponents. He was 15-12 when the opponent had a better level of overall talent and 14-5 when the talent level was even or in the Cyclones favor.
The article itself was titled “The next Brock Purdy:….” It focused on who may be the next under the radar prospect in the 2023 draft. For reference they used the 247sports team talent composite ratings to determine team talent.
Perhaps scouting departments will pay attention to that aspect more going forward thanks to Brock and his performance this season.

The Eagles have the best personnel surrounding their QB.
- Best OL by a considerable margin
- Brown and Smith are the most productive WR tandem
- Goedert is a top 10 TE
- Sanders and Gainwell are studs

I'd take the Bengals WRs over the 49ers any day. RBs are close. Everybody loves CMC for good reason, but Mixon is really good. 49ers have the edge at TE and OL.

Cheifs have a really good OL, the best TE, and Pacheco is playing well. Weakest WR group by a mile.
Chiefs have the best OL, but its close, also Brown and Smith over Higgins and Chase? This is what is called a bad take, from I'm guessing an Eagles Homer. The personnel around the QB is good dont get me wrong, but it doesnt matter who the personnel is when your Quarterback is Patrick Mahomes. Dude won a super bowl with the most irrelevant bunch of receivers ever not named Tyreek Hill

I don't care for the headline at all, because it makes it sound on the surface like being at Iowa State was a source of adversity, but the rest of the article is solid.

Interesting read about Purdy at Iowa State.

Some weird quotes from Matt Campbell about Purdy not having anyone around him to help Brock (even though he had Montgomery, Lazard, Purdy, Kolar, X, etc…

I agree, but he never had Lazard, and it goes without saying he had himself. He did have a bunch of good skill players around him and I would like to have seen what he could have done with a good line in front of him.

Agree with overall point that CMC was making, but the “didn’t have McCaffery” comment made no sense. Brock did have the best back in the country In Breece Hall.

I said Brown and Smith are the most productive, which is true. I think the Bengals WR group is the best in the league, though and I’d take them over anyone. I think the Eagles OL is better, but they and the Chiefs are probably 1-2 in the league.

I’m not a fan of any of the four teams. I think our conclusion is largely the same. The Eagles, Bengals and Niners all have great rosters around their QB. The Chiefs seem to have a very good roster around Mahomes, but I tend to think that’s a lot of Mahomes making these guys look better than they are.

I just think Mahomes is on his own level, and anyone trying to put any other QB like Allen or Burrow is ridiculous. Every other QB in the conversation has a huge cap reckoning around the corner. Mahomes has already been there and just keeps on plugging away. Burrow’s playoff production is nearly identical to Kirk Cousins’ but the Bengals defense the past two years in the playoffs have been giving up just over 17 ppg and producing 2 TO a game.

Brock is playing better than Jimmy G did. The players prior to Brock had the same players supporting them and did not perform like Brock has. Brock increased the velocity on his thrown passes by 5 mph over what he was at Iowa State. That is the big difference. Ball is arriving faster and Brock has always been pretty accurate. 49ers catching accurate passes in stride. Big plays.
That article someone posted about the work he did between the end of last year and the draft was pretty good. A lot of people were dragging our coaches, but that article indicated to me that the work he did is stuff that very few people are doing anywhere. It isn't just ISU's coaches/QB coaches.

So many guys get away with just being a naturally superior athlete that it doesn't matter as much the coaching they get within their team. You have to go to a specialist who focuses on one specific position to get that level of improvement. Position coaches have a lot of other responsibilities and they can put that level of attention into a single player even if they have the knowledge to do so.

Brock had 2 guys working with him every day on nothing but mechanics. Our QB coach has to work with 3 guys in limited contact hours, and also has to teach the offense and help gameplan.

Brock Purdy made a great decision to come and play for Campbell.

He also got very lucky to have landed on the 49ers and then have not one but two starting quarterbacks ahead of him go down to injury.

Make no mistake the guy has earned his success, but sometimes things really fall into your lap.

Yep. Though to his credit he was ready for the moment.

ISU football has to be as talked about in the national media as I have ever heard in my life right now. Most of it is due to Brock Purdy, but obviously Breece Hall and David Montgomery have helped.

I have a mixed emotion when they talk about Purdy and how he has improved. Seems like more of a compliment to the 9ers coaching staff (likely much deserved) but also maybe a small slight to the coaching he got at Iowa State? I am probably reading way too much into this.....

That being said, glad CMC is at ISU. He and his staff have done wonders....
Don’t forget Lazard
