Honestly that would be annoying. He could handle it with class, which he is apparently very concerned about, or he could handle it like a toddler stomping his feet. We see the way he chooses to handle it.
Here's a concept... bringing people onboard the Cyclone train is paramount to our program's survival. Alienating people when they've become enlightened doesn't help us AT ALL and doing it because it makes you feel better says more about you than them. Today's cancel culture sucks. There are no olive branches anymore. Be better.

He never advocated, he simply stated a fact that has been backed up by action that go coaches leave places like ISU.
Time and again coaches who have had success have left programs who are not known for their football abilities for what would be considered better jobs. Mississippi State lost their coach to another team within the confernece, and they have had better success than ISU.
Baylor lost their guy after what 2 or 3 years. Hell ISU lost 2 native sons to other jobs
Campbell broke the trend, ISU should be happy he did.
But does not change the fact historically guys have left places like Iowa State.
No disrespect. But, a certain degree of 'cancel culture' is healthy. Take racism as an example. All I've seen my entire life is people drawing a line in the sand. As long as that line continues to be drawn, our children will see 'that' difference. Quit drawing the line, and our children will see different reasons to compare themselves with others. Quit citing history of ISU losing coaches and we, more easily, create a new and different history.
Yes he has advocated for him to leave. He said it as a fact and has continued to push the idea that we will be back to a basement dweller if he were to leave. Coaches have left places like Iowa State in the past but times are changing. Coaches don’t leave because of money as much. Even at Iowa State you are making screw you money.
Fred left because he wanted to coach in the NBA and frankly didn’t like being the god we made him out to be. Cael left because Wrestling is a completely different animal. There are significant money differences between Penn State and what Iowa State was offering. There still are but we are closing the gap.
Mississippi State lost their coach more because he was starting to overstay his welcome. Rhule was never really a Baylor guy just the coach at Baylor.
It would be dumb to assert Campbell will retire here but it is equally dumb to assert he is for sure leaving. Campbell appears really content to build our program up similar to Snyder.
This is kind of one of these "you're either part of the problem or part of the solution" things for me. All I was trying to say is ISU is far better off if Herbie is an apostle. I am glad be probably thinks more highly of our coach than our fans. But, as long as we feel feel better about ourselves...
You’re missing the point. Kirk was a complete horses ass in his “apologetic” tweets. Go reread them. Not to mention the endless stream of crap out of his mouth (and Rece) about us last fall. Anyone trying to defend him can GTFO with that.
It has to be additional, right? Heacock and Manning make almost a million each already.
Additional. Before the pandemic, the assistant coach total salary was around $5 million.

Times are changing because places like the SEC are turning into coaching grave yards, why sign up for that. You are seeing more guys who even have some success stick around if they have a good situation, which again is much much different than trends of the past where coaches would jump ship for what is perceived to be a better job.
But the original tweet was from 2017, when pretty much most ISU fans at that time had major concerns about him leaving.
Maybe it would be better for ISU if one of the biggest names associated with college not tweet and congratulate ISU and sentiments of I hope he stays for long time. Better to keep it a local story
Don't disagree, he should have ignored the few petty, insecure fans that were bringing up tweets from 3 or 4 years ago when most people were not sure he would stick around.
You’re still missing the point. Why would we be ok with one of the biggest talking heads in the sport bashing our university? Reread the apologetic tweets. Watch what he says regularly about us. Most positive comments are laced with passive aggressiveness or lazy commentary. This is what is spun nationally and goes into the homes of recruits. Why you are defending it is just weird and dumb.
It's true that every fan base does it to a certain degree, but ISU fans have a particularly massive inferiority complex. Its6understandable, but it would be nice to see us start to "get over it" at some point.
