I think that Clyburn team gets forgotten sometimes in discussing the Hoiberg teams. That was probably the most stacked team we've had. We could have gone far in that tournament if it wasn't for the crap OSU game.
Matt deserves some credit for improving in the offseason, but let's not forget that it was Doug Gottlieb's article that inspired Matt to play to the best of his abilities. In many ways, Doug Gottlieb saved our season.

There was a thread over the offseason where someone said Matt belonged at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
I think we can all agree it is going to be pretty fricken sweet seeing Thomas and Long out there at the same time as seniors at the top of their respective games draining threes. Morris running the show. Those three alone will put an incredible amount of stress on a defense.
Even with him shooting 49% or whatever it is, his form is so good that I think it should go in every time he takes one. That's the thing that was always so frustrating about his Fr/Soph years is that even though the shots weren't falling, mechanically it still looked perfect.

To add onto this, Georges said in a postgame interview recently (I think after Okie State) that this is the Matt Thomas everybody had seen in practice since the day he stepped on campus. All of the talk that Thomas was going to be a stud was true. His shot has always been great, it's just that he couldn't keep up on defense until halfway through last season and this is the first time where we've needed him to produce. Up until this year any production from Matt was just icing on the cake.

Interesting stat I stumbled on.
Monte Morris leads the big twelve, playing 97.8% of the available minutes in conference games (he's say a total of 4).
Matt Thomas is second in minutes in conference games, at 91.1%. (Hield is third).

Matt has done a fantastic job this season. One advantage Matt has that Sullivan did not for three of his four years here is that he is on a good team and not always drawing the other team's best defender.
Sullivan's problem his sophomore and junior seasons was that he was the best player on a bad team and always drew the toughest defender.

He used to struggle from the line relative to his ability to shoot. He's got pretty much everything figured out now.
In conference games only, Matt is 2nd in the league in true shooting % (which has weighted three point makes and attempts in order to more accurately show value) and he's 2nd in three pointers made, as someone else pointed out. I think it's pretty clear he has developed into the second-best shooter in the conference behind Hield. Next year I hope he can lead the conference in made threes.
We've seen that senior laden teams can do very good things. Those three plus Burton are not chopped liver. I'm not stressed about next year, frankly. I'm looking forward to proving people wrong (Goodman). Yes, I know Monte could leave and I know we need some help inside.
