Gonna have to disagree with you on this one, there's no way after his recent play that his ranking drops. It is going to rise, and quite a bit from 104. Hopefully up to 50 or better.

Think he meant drop as in a low numeral, thus actually "rising" in ranking.

Way up there
Ratings only matter when they make our recruits look good :jimlad:, but seriously the next few years of Cyclone bball could be the most anticipated in history, maybe not in the eyes of the national media but Cyclone nation's excitement could be at an all time high.

That is great news! Obviously well deserved after the summer Matt and Monte had.

By the way, according to his twitter account Matt was in Ames yesterday.

I see Baylor is in on the #2, #3, and #4 players on the list. Think they can come up with the coin to land all three of them?

Rankings are a big deal to sports. It's like a first impression on people. Expectations don't always get met, but having them is a great sign, and help lead to good things. This is helping us get some great recognition. The more people notice us, the better! Gawd basketball is getting exciting.

You are right....it is important for perception. And it is also important because it shows that Hoiberg (and TJ, Cornell, and Matt) have an eye for talent. They were in on Niang before he blew up and they were in on Matt before he blew up.

I am very excited about ISU's future in basketball. Hoiberg proved he can actually coach, and they have shown how good they are at evaluating talent. I don't see how the bball program can go anywhere but up!

We also started recruiting Morris last summer (or even before that) when he was on no one's Top 100.

Baylor actually gives me hope. Waco is not exactly a big time city or hip college town. In fact it's pretty crappy when compared to Ames. They have an advantage in FB recruiting because they're in Texas. Fortunately, in MBB many of the good players come from cold weather climates so weather or being located in a place like Texas isn't as imperative.

With all this said, Drew is a recruiting machine, and I feel like Hoiberg can become comparable eventually. Hoiberg has an X's & O's advantage, IMO.

That is why I believe Hoiberg can turn ISU into a national program. If Drew and Baylor can do it, I see no reason we can't do it.

I think everyone on this site has this opinion.
