I was in one of the “converted” K&G’s in WDM earlier this week. Literally all they did was change the signage on the pumps, convert the POS system and updated the interior painting to outdoor, woodsy type pictures. It’s a complete joke.So the ones here will be generic. They are remodeling the old K&G stores, not rebuilding.
What did you expect them to do?I was in one of the “converted” K&G’s in WDM earlier this week. Literally all they did was change the signage on the pumps, convert the POS system and updated the interior painting to outdoor, woodsy type pictures. It’s a complete joke.
Yup, this is exactly how some of the bigger companies don't draw a lot of news attention. As long as the number of layoffs doesn't exceed 50 in a 30 day period it will not trigger a WARN Act notification. Even then some of the larger companies around here if they let just over 50 people go it's not even 1% of their total workforce in Iowa and some of those are actually offset by new hires in other positions they are not downsizing and are actually expanding their operations in. If they do the layoffs in small spaced out increments then the media usually doesn't report on it but if they lay off 50 one week the media won't report that they also hired on 100 new employees that month. There are a LOT of “under the radar” mass layoffs over the past few months. (or done in monthly waves or creative wording to avoid the various notification requirements)
Have you been to one of the older Casey's stores that have been updated with their new logo? You'll get the same vibes.I was in one of the “converted” K&G’s in WDM earlier this week. What are the remaining Krause people doing, other than figuring out who to fire?Based on the OP I’m assuming Maverick layoffs
There are only like 50 Krause Group employees left
Honestly, if they were going to the trouble to shut the place down for 24 hours, then change all of the signage, not just some of it- especially after they made a big deal out of which ones they were going to convert first. Instead now it’s a Maverik with K&G signage. At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter. I’ve been in actual Maveriks before. They’re not anything special. What did you expect them to do?
I've been to a Maverick in a small town western state long before they acquired K&G and if that is what the K&G stores eventually become it will be an upgrade. I work with someone that used to do the overnight shifts at a K&G and they don't speak as highly of the company as the customers do.Honestly, if they were going to the trouble to shut the place down for 24 hours, then change all of the signage, not just some of it- especially after they made a big deal out of which ones they were going to convert first. He still owns Solar TransportWhat are the remaining Krause people doing, other than figuring out who to fire?
Solar Transport was part of the K&G sale.He still owns Solar Transport
Then I think just admin, legal, accounting, etc needed to support his vineyard, soccer teams, philanthropy, and whatever else he’s got his hand in.
Kinda sad, another Iowa company bought out by an out of state company. And then rebranded like they never existed.
I'd care less if Krause wasn't just sitting on whole blocks of downtown Des Moines as hostage for his soccer stadium, meanwhile he's in Italy more focused on Parma, not even in the state anymore seemingly.
Thanks. Not sure how I missed that.Solar Transport was part of the K&G sale.

Quality? Past stories indicate the food might be good. Fuel does not appear to be certified Top Tier (better than government-required minimum detergent additive) so long-term use might be problematic.I've never been in a Maverik store, but did see some when we were in Colorado. Anyone know what the level of quality is? From the outside they look decent. I just remember many years ago when QuikTrips were sold and turned into something else in Cedar Rapids, can't remember the name, but they were awful. The QT quality which was always pretty good took a major nosedive.
