The game starts at 7:00pm. at Hilton! Parking is different due to the game on Satureday, but it should still be fun.

You can watch and listen to the game on cyclones.com.

Go Cyclones!!

Re: MBB ISU vs Dubuque Game Day Thread

since this an exibition game, are the ineligible players able to take the court?
i.e. is there any chance that we will see allen, white, babb, etc suit up tonight in garbage time?

I don't know the rules, but that would be awesome! It would be great to see them on the bench!

I think the key to this season will be JVB. He needs to have a great year for us to finish in the upper half of Big 12. I have a feeling he will be a pleasant surprise.

Maybe JVB will be our 2010 version of Julius Michalik.

As young and inexperienced as the rest of our team is, I don't see why Fred would give them any garbage time if they were able to do so.

Yea, I don't think Chris Allen needs 'garbage time.' However, would be nice to see them have a few reps on the court!!

I am soooo pumped for this. I know the game means nothing, but it means everything (in a sense) just to see basketball again, to see our guys out there, and to see the Mayor back home in Hilton.

Re: MBB ISU vs Dubuque Game Day Thread

i was thinking more along the lines of giving the eligible guys a break.
We only have 8 guys running this new fast pace offense. Gonna have to be a very well conditioned team to have any gas in the tank at the end of the season.

Re: MBB ISU vs Dubuque Game Day Thread

I think Jake is the key this year.

We already know that Scotty, DG, Melvin, JVB will have to put up big offensive numbers to have a chance in most of these games.

We are going to need a serious influx of scoring this year. Tonight, Im not so sure we get it quite yet. This team will lose some games to bad teams if we can't shoot from outside very well.

Should be interesting to see if the 3 is falling for ISU. If not, Im afraid this game will be pretty close. Similar to Wartburg vs Iowa a few years ago when it was a few point game with a few minutes to go.

So they should be all in for every game to build stamina then!

Just a few more hours.....

Re: MBB ISU vs Dubuque Game Day Thread

Per Chris, there appears to be only 8 players going tonight. Sorry, McKnight is the only true surprise. No white. No allen, babb or any of the other transfers. Phillips is still out with the broken hand issue. Still will be fun. Look for SC to score a bunch; like 25+. You heard it here first. He has been shooting the ball extremely well and I think he has been overlooked by many.

Re: MBB ISU vs Dubuque Game Day Thread

Can't wait to see the new-look Cyclones!

Things I'm interested in seeing:

-Ejim...I think he'll play big in early-season games, but struggle against Big 12 teams. Great future.

-Freddy's sideline demeanor. Is he going to be demonstrative? Quietly calm? I'm guessing he makes some mistakes in clock management, etc., but that's OK in my book. He will learn quickly.

-Diante Garrett...can he be a senior leader every game? Is his outside shot improved enough to at least keep defenders honest?

-Who's gonna rebound? This could kill us this year, unless we get some surprises out of the newcomers, or unless our guards become better rebounders.

It's going to be a long season, win/loss-wise, but I'm always excited to see how things play out. Especially this year with the Hoiberg era starting. Go Clones!
