i hope we beat them by 20...not outta spite... but just to show "mcneck" how bad of coach he was for the big 12 and iowa state....hes right up there with Melvin Watkins on the worst big 12 coaches ever
I hate to point out the obvious, but if he was truly the worst coach, why weren't we finishing last?
And Winthrop almost did it vs. Tennessee is '06.
I don't get the nightmare feeling as much as I used to, but I also root for that 15-2 every year because I hate having ISU being the most recent. I thought for sure it would have happened again by now.
I actually think it wouldn't bother most of us too much anymore, except ISU has exactly one tournament win since then. Arizona lost as a 2 vs. Santa Clara in '92, and I think lost as a 3 and a 4 seed right around that same time (those might've been in consecutive years). But UA won a national title, and was in the middle of a 25-year tourney appearance streak.

I have no idea whether this hire was "personal" or not, but if it was, that's about as much of a "**** YOU" statement hire that a "jilted" coach could make, and if it was "personal" then I've just lost a lot of respect for the guy.
Not sure what the upside of this hire is when about the only accomplishment in his career WAS the upset, and makes the "personal" hiring conspiracy even more believable.

I mean really, he hired him to spite ISU? I'm as happy as the next guy to see Greg gone.... but Greg has better things to do with his time I think. I'd imagine he's looking for a good X's and O's guy and he sees a former head coach who has some nice wins on his record. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm no fan of GM but I doubt this has anything to do with throwing anything in the face of ISU and its fans.
Think about it...how tough do you think it is going to be for GM to get a quality staff assembled at CU...I would think pretty tough...due to both his track record as well as the timing.
This guy was an assistant at Bradley, I believe, at the start of the past season and quit mysteriously sometime in December or January. I doubt he is on the A-list of assistant coaches to be hired at many schools. I'm not shocked that he would be all that CU ad GM could get to come on board there.
SOB.....Hamptons head coach :no: but really.....who cares lol McD is gone and how things worked out.....im a happy man with our current situation going forward
