If Brackins were to comeback isu would be the best team in the state and a 500 or better big 12 team.

When he leave for the draft we become the 3rd best team in the state and 4-12 in the Big 12 again

Iowa is going to have a solid basketball team next year so that could be a push. If Brackins returns however, I do see us with a better than .500 record.

I don't know if it's been brought up yet or not because I haven't read the entire thread, but how do said posters pissed about this know that a donor didn't step in and say lock him up, and if we need to go a different direction, I'll give you the money to buy out the contract.

How is he locked in? I understood if GMac left us for a non-Big 12 school, and not Iowa, he wouldn't have to pay any $$$ to us. Did I miss something?

It was the only job he went after. He wanted to get back in the Big XII, back in the midwest, and stick it to K-State...

Iowa State was the only job he went after? Suuuuuuurrrreeee.

Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Nebraska, KSU, and ISU all have hired coaches recently? How many of the other schools offered Kruger the job? Or was Iowa State Kruger's only real dream job?

It was the only job he went after that year... Not sure he tried for any others but I can guarantee you he didn't try at KSU. From what I was told I don't think he would have gone after the others either because one of the things he always liked about ISU was that it was a basketball school...

I had heard Kruger had no interest in ISU...this from an ex-Cyclone who owns a local oil company...

Yes, because what the program needed after issues with Larry and Wayne was Lon Kruger to make sure we'd stay out of controversy :v_SPIN:

I have heard a number of former college coaches and players comment on TV what a fine job of coaching Mac has done with the talent we have. But then I suppose that they don't know what the are talking about and we should believe a guy from Texas and a former baseball player over everyone else.
When was the last time a commentator on camera said that a coach was not doing a good job?

Actually I remember on several games when the TV commentator's questioned Morgan's "system" in his last year. It was obvious they weren't impressed with his coaching ability either.

Ugh, there's very few really good coaches that deserve a nine year deal. There's a bunch more coaches we could hire that could win 3 conference games a season.

I'd like to see McDermott win a real recruiting battle. All three of our BIG recruits were connected with an assistant.....TJ with Craig, Jean with Wes, and Daniyal with Colvin. Marquis was tight with Kantrail, but how many real recruiting battles have we won where we didn't have an in? Or the guy didn't commit as a freshman? JVB?
Maybe their good assistants because of they have ins? Also, with our assistant's connections, we have ins with tons of players. (Ejim, HB, Kadima, Dykstra, Diante.)

I'll take your word for it....that surprises me though, cause its not something you hear very often. Point being though, to whoever it was I was responding to I wouldn't place a whole lot of weight on comments from commentators who have nothing to gain by ripping a coaches abilities. Kind of like Cotlar who never dares criticize anyone in his phone list.

I agree with you on this. Commentators almost never say anything negative about a coach.
