I think all you need to know about the state of the ISU Men's basketball program you can get by just looking at the front page of CF. Here we are in the middle of basketball season, there is a game tomorrow night, yet only 5 of the 20 threads on the front page is about MBB.

However, there were 9 off-topic threads.......

I think that has something to do with thread moves and mods on e-power-rages

True that. People get all twisted up when fans are posting a lot with their frustrations - but it's getting to the point already in this season where people are just not caring anymore.

I think two things regarding this...

1. You should grow up, along with the other mod-whiners. Stuff gets merged, it's been that way since day 1. Deal with it or find another online message board. From what I can tell, those are really your only options - unless you'd like to keep whining and soon not have a choice.

2. There is certainly substance there with any negativity regarding MBB/ISU in some cases being quickly frowned upon and even chastised.

this team does not know the meaning of passing the ball, reboundingundert the defensive basket and under the offensive bucket.kansas made our biggs look like kindergarten players, except for gilstrap's dunk.our guard play is poor.these gaurds should be playing at the high school level.mcdermott needs to get off of his butt from being mr friendly coach and have some fire in his belly like the kansas state coach does.if you play for k state and screw up,you know that you had better be prepared for a good arse chewing.

Agree about the K-State coach, and others in the conference. For K-state, even if they are ahead by 20 points with 30 seconds left in the game, he will still chew his players a new one when they mess up.

I'm glad GMac is a nice guy, but quite frankly, he is not paid for that. He is paid to win, which is something he has not done here.

Mods move things for organizational purposes. There are no reasons to have 12 different threads on the same subject. Threads of all types get merged on similarity. Its not personal.

I don't really want a coach that is best known for chewing his players ***, but I would like someone with some enthusiasm. That is one of the things I like the most about Paul Rhoads. It is possible to be a very good motivational and instructional coach without constantly chewing out your players.

Sure it is, but ISU has neither type right now.

Yes, those guys are nice players, the problem is that everyone around is us getting GREAT players, year in and year out.

VERY VERY average or below average compared to most other schools that plan on competing for an NCAA bid.

Now if you dont pay attention to any NCAA hoops besides ISU, a few Big 12 teams, or Iowa... these guys probably seem really good.

He's had plenty of time to turn things around so if we don't make the NCAAs this year, it is time to move on. Granted, he's had some injuries and unfortunate player turnover (not all of his own making, but the buck stops with him) throughout his tenure but a sub-.500 record in 4 years doesn't cut it. A good guy and probably a good coach, I'll wish him well at his next stop.

I've got really mixed feelings on this subject. First, I do like Mac. The thing that worried me the most when he got here was whether he could recruit at a major conference level, I think he's proven that he can.

But then there are numerous red flags that go along with his tenure. Losing player(s) every year, a team with quite a bit of front line talent getting killed on the boards with regularity, the team's lack of improvement as the season progresses, (stagnant offense, very poor spacing, no apparent spark at any time).

I'd like to see him stay and suceed, but how long so we wait? I really thought we'd have a legitimate shot at a top-half conference finish and a tourney spot, now I'm not so sure we deserve a watered-down NIT bid the way we're playing.

Finally, one rebound for CB? If you can't motivate him then SIT HIM DOWN!! Maybe he's too nice a guy.

Sadly, maybe he should go.

You are happy with how the program is running right now? You have got to be kidding me? Winning apparently is not important to you. Winning is all that matters to me.....and WINNING A LOT..and this guy is not even close. What has he freaking done to make you think that any of this **** is going to change? Hilarious post....made me laugh.

It made me chuckle a little writing it, but I posted the records of the past and we aren't really outside the norm at ISU. Winning is very important, but not at all the most important to me. I want athletes that don't embarrass ISU off the court. I want them to graduate unless they leave for the NBA. I want them to come back to ISU because they love the University. There are several things that are going right, it really comes down to the winning, and I believe that without the defections and injuries we will be a much better team. If nothing else, we will be a better attraction for the next coach if things are solid around here.

None of you answered my only question though. What does constant ******** do for us right now? Make you feel better? Awesome, for you! I just don't see how our coach will be better, the players will play harder or Pollard change coaches with this many games left of the season.

I realize we don't look like we are improving, but I can't see how we are getting worse. The talent is better, the results are practically the same or a bit better so far. Personally I think McD has the program in a better state than it has been in 15 years except for the winning thing. I'm of the opinion he will be here for at least one more year, and maybe two unless one of the two things above happen.

Exactly. Winning is just a minor detail.

Hey, we are a Top 100 team!

finally a win lets see how this affects the poll.
keep him- 41.03%
want him gone- 58.97%
We defeated Colorado at home by one point. I don't see this game changing anyone's opinion on McDermott's future.

Had we lost by one point, I would think that would have affected the polling.
