This is about how I feel.

Part of me thinks that McD can learn and turn the program around in the future, and the other part of me says there are fundamental issues with this team. I am no insider, but it sure seems there is team chemistry problems or an overall lack of mental toughness.

This. We can talk about how UNI is just a mid-major team, but the fact that he took them from nothing to 3 NCAA's says a lot about his coaching ability(remember the buzz when we hired him?). But you are right in that something is not clicking, and with the mental toughness, my biggest pet peeve with this team is the lack of aggressiveness especially on defense.

In all seriousness and totally not trying to mess with you. What talent?

I'm curious as well...

I don't think it's that hard to see that we do actually have individual talent. We just have difficulty merging it together into a team. I'd say the individual talents of Gilstrap, Brackins, and Dendy individually would help any team. But, we just have a tough time getting it all together...

Two things that you can control as a player, no matter how much talent you have, are effort (defense and rebounding) and free throw shooting. Our team is not good at either of these, and those are really the basic things I need to be satisfied as a basketball fan.

Is that on the players, or the coach? Tough call, but the blame is likely shared. The coaches need to motivate the players (which I personally do not feel this staff does well), but it is ultimately the players' responsibility to put forth the effort. Where is the fire?

I don't know.... I'm torn. I guess I'll ride the season out and see how things finish up. Realistically, I think there is very little chance that Greg will be let go after this season, regardless.

I just want to see some effort, from the coaches and the players. I want to see some passion. Some will. Some mental toughness. The discipline to do the things it takes to be a winner. I'm just not seeing it right now.

Colvin.
Ejim has good promise.
The young big man whose name I forget now.

I look, and the pieces are continually getting better.

I know that the folks who are being negative (and I'm not pointing at you) will disagree and deny it, but that's all they do. The complaining feed on itself.

There are a lot of positives going on, whether we want to see them or not.
You can't seriously believe Colvin's back next year.
Well. I guess you believed Harrison Barnes was coming here too, so you probably do.

He's toast. Now that he's lost the only thing he had left for him (integrity), what is he going to sell this time? Maybe "I am an Iowa boy like you guys" card. Or if he is really desperate "the economy is really bad and he has a family to feed"

a lot easier to recruit at baylor, but ya we need to turn the corner

You cannot be serious.

Have you been to Waco? Do you know their BB history (or lackthereof)? Do you realize how far down the relevance scale Baylor MBB is in the Texas sporting scene? Do you understand how disinterested their fanbase is about BB?

To think of the mess Drew inherited and all of the above I have stated...he has done an amazing job.

Taggart, Blaylock, and Stinson never played for Mac. Mac was hired and he wasn't able to talk them into staying. That is hardly his fault. If we had a coaching change last season, Brackins is gone. Is that the new coaches fault???

Lucca was not an NBA caliber player, I know you denoted he will play in Germany, but he wouldn't start at many other B12 schools. Mike Taylor has admitted more than once that he was fully responsible for his actions. Wes is the only true Grade A talent that Mac has lost.

I know you meant well but do the math.

This comment really made me laugh. Very funny because I have come to realize that for some NOTHING is McDermott's fault.

Am I the only one slightly stunned that GM is still getting 40% plus support in this poll?

I'm hardly surprised. I would have thought it would be above 50%. Most people are happy to give him another 4 years, since now it's rebuilding time.

Mcdermott's motto: It's Morgan's fault.

Mcdermott's team is falling apart, and this is not something new. This is the same act we've seen every year for four years.
Everything that went wrong the first two seasons of McDermott's tenure was conveniently blamed on Morgan.
When Pollard said that Mcdermott's third season was his "first season", I hoped that was code for you've got to stop blaming Morgan now.
It wasn't true though. During Mcdermott's third season Morgan's name got dragged through the mud plenty.
Now in his fourth season the most interesting thing has happened. The same problems that plagued Mcdermott's first three seasons have emerged again, losing, players leaving, second half collapses, poor coaching.
But no one has the nerve to blame Morgan this year. Some have hinted at it, but everyone seems to know that jig is up.
This year proves that none of it was Morgan's fault.
It's been Mcdermott's fault all along.
Who knew?

If he doesn't produce this season? Absolutely gone....He's 15-44 in his first three season against teams who ended up with winning records and only one of those wins was against a team that actually made the NCAA Tournament and just a few others against teams which made the NIT (compare to Morgan's like 25 he won against NCAA teams in three seasons). This year we're 3-6 against winning teams so far. He doesn't even have a winning season and the only reason he's near .500 is because every year we beat easy teams in non conference and go 9-5, or maybe 10-4 in non conference and then get smoked in the Big 12 (He's 15-39 in Big 12 competition by the way...I think 5 of those wins are against Nebraska, 3 to Colorado, etc)

Now, I think we are a lot better this year than his first three seasons which is even greater reason why he should be let go if he doesn't do ****. Not to mention we have so many players quit/transfer on him in just a short time...I don't pin the Lucca thing on GMac at the moment, but almost every other transfer I will except maybe Eikmeier.

Anyway, we have a lot of talent, but no results after this year, his fourth season = no job.

Deace busted out a stat on the show this morning:

Of ALL of the BCS coaches, 1 out of 66 has missed the NCAA tournament for 4 years in a row and been allowed to return for his 5th season.

And that was Scott Drew at Baylor taking over after players were killing each other.

That should show you how many other schools will tolerate this lack of performance.

I would question that stat. I thought for about 10 seconds and came up with Bill Carmody at Northwestern, who has been there almost 10 years and has never been to the NCAAs.

Get a clue. Please find me a quote were Greg has said this, ever.

There are certainly plenty of things people can point at Greg for regarding this team - but this is just foolish.
