I want McD to work out as much as anyone. For whatever reason though things don't seem to be headed in a better direction. After this year would be an ideal time for a new regime as the top two scorers will both be gone and we will be starting over anyway.

If they end up under .500 in the conference and doesn't get let go I am not sure how JP can justify that considering Wayne had far more success in 3 years and was let go.

Elgin Cook and DeMarcus Phillips will both be good for us. The problem is we have good players RIGHT NOW and we aren't winning. That's the scary part. We have 2 legitimate NBA caliber players, a 3 year starter at PG and a good post at 6'11" and we can't win games. That HAS to be coaching. There is no other explanation.

Did any watch DG and Brackins tonight - Hopefully DG had the flu or something and Brackins just plain out needs to start playing .

How much longer do you give it when small programs like UNI,Drake and Craighton keep putting together teams but we can get over a hump there where our talent doesn't proform or worse and leaves.

Since he started from scratch, and the conference took off, he's right about on track. I'm fine with another year or two, because I think he'll get it done. Constantly switching coaches isn't going to accomplish that much for our program.

Sorry. Getting ready for work, have things on the mind.

C'mon man. Do some research instead of whining. Things are better than you think.

I understand. And I realize overall, stastically, things are improving. I just don't see how Iowa State's going to get a much more talented team that what we had this year. And he couldn't win with it, so..

I want him back. I see the talent that he's putting together, and I think he deserves a chance to see it through.

This mirrors my thoughts. We're three games into the Big 12 season, with two road games, and one tough as hell home game. I still think that they can go 9-7 or 8-8. Not sure if they make the tournament with all the players down, but I'm still hopeful that they can.

I will say, with honesty, at this point, Brackins has to come back again. I look out there and see a ton of guys above him in the draft right now. If that happens we lose Gilstrap but add Ejim and Phillips so maybe we are more talented next year.

McDermotts finally starting to get better at recruiting the athletic kids that can run but he still hasn't figured out how to coach them and make them better. His coaching style doesn't fit the recruits hes getting.

We do not have 2 legitimate NBA caliber players, i wish them the best, but we do not. We have 2 guys that some NBA teams will give a second round pick to and bring them to camp, that is all.

You can blame McDermott for not bringing in/keeping enough talent, but don't act like he is coaching some tremendously talented guys that will be great once they get away from McDermott. They are mentally and physically weak.

What about all the talent that the poster your thoughts mirror talks about.

Could you comment on that?

Part of me wants to tell Lucca to take Mac with him, the other part of me says McD is getting hosed just as bad as us fans. Keep him...I guess, our basketball program to this point is a circus regardless of who comes in. He's got time left on his contract, just finish it out. Only now, start recruiting guys that fit the Iowa State mold. I think Forde on ESPN wrote an article about how Bo Ryan, Tony Bennett, and Mike Anderson recruit guys that fit their system, not so much the best player available. Mac needs to get in contact with those guys and develop a recruiting plan and then stick to one style of basketball that fits those players, no flip-flopping from season to season or even midseason. If he'll do that, why not, just let him finish the contract.

No offense but Brackins and Gilstrap are here now and we can't win what will be different next year. Other then two players that had to choose between us smaller programs in smaller conferences.

Jeez, this really puts things in perspective. We are in year FOUR, and our coach/program has absolutely no identity. Put me down for NCAA or bust.
