"I regret my actions and the difficult situation that I created for my teammates and coaches. I am going to work hard to set things right and put us in a situation to live up to our full potential as a team. I apologize for my actions, because I know that they disappointed my teammates, coaches and fans. As a first step, I will sign off from Twitter and other social media until the end of the season in order to focus on my coursework and the rest of this season.
Go Cyclones!"
Something like that would work.
Personally I don't give a **** what he says to the fans. The less the better. What matters is what he says to his teammates and coaches. And maybe the fans don't need to know any of that.
As a fan, my job is to cheer for the players. That's it. It's a lot more fun if I don't ***** about the players, so I try not to do that. But to each their own on that point.
Fans don't have a job, but if he wants to rebuild bridges with the fans, he'll need to say something to them.
Meh, an apology would be a positive step.

He does not need to apologize to twitter followers or fans, only to his team and coaches.
Why? Fans should probably not worry about this. It's a team thing. Our only job is to cheer for the guys that are playing. If Jameel is playing, it is likely that he is trying to earn back the trust of the coaches and players. That's enough.

Because there's a relationship there. When you want people on your side, it's the best approach to take.
Otherwise, he's headed for a lot of silence, golf claps, and a lukewarm (at best) Senior Day.

Agreed, and the next step would be him saying that he is signing off of social media until the end of season.
That's all hypothetical cause all of that has to take place first. If some fans don't support Jameel on Senior Day after he makes his peace with his teammates and his coaches because he didn't make a public apology, then those fans need to get over themselves.
IRONY at its finest.
