So, how long before NU runs Callahan out of Lincoln? Judging by the 32 different articles about the USC game in the OWH Sunday edition, it won't be much longer. The fact that USC lined up and ran the ball down NU's throat all night doesn't sit very well with a lot of people here.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the West Coast Offense has no place in college football. It will be the downfall of Bill Callahan at NU.

If you have any questions about what type of coach Callahan is, please read the end of the article linked here. It will give you some insight into why not many people are enamored with ol' Billy.

I've gotta think he's gonna end up getting canned. I've posted on this before. Just a gut feeling I have, that you've given credence to with this article.

Cally's half time interview on TV tells you all you need to know. His defense had gotten ripped to shreds by USC's running game and all he could talk about was his offensive play calling mix.

I look back to his days in Oakland. He seemed to be a condescending a-hole. He took a Super Bowl team and ran them into the ground. He very nearly had his arse kicked by various members of his team. I would love nothing more than to see history repeat itself in Knebraska.

From Day 1 I said it wasn't a good hire - just not a great fit.

I don't see Bill as a guy that can manage things when his team is struggling. While the situation was already cracking in Oakland when he was there, he did nothing to fill in those cracks.

They have Ball State and then us. Plenty of room to bounce back before the "showdown" at Missouri.

All I gotta say is "WHO CARES"

I'm lovin' it.... after living in that wretched state for too long and putting up with their fans, it was quite enjoyable to watch them get shredded saturday night.

Lee Barfknecht's column was pretty harsh but not out of line questioning Callahan. He's a good writer and not a NU homer. It also pointed out how under Callahan, NU gave up 70 versus Texas Tech. Yikes.

THAT game put a big smile on my face. Knebraska had done that to people for years and it was great to see someone finally return the favor. Wasn't it 77-10?

I don't think it's the offense that will do Callahan in (they can score a few points, anyways...), it will be his inability to have a defense like NU fans have been used to.

Nebraska can forget about National Championships with Billy Boy Callahan.

I will now give you the old Joe Namath "guarantee"...I GUARANTEE YOU THAT IF CALLAHAN DOES NOT WIN A BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP....HE WILL BE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I see it Callahan has 2 more years to win a conference championship and if that eludes him he will be dispatched/ FIRED and the husker fans wont look back or shed a tear!!

Championships are all that count in Nebraskaville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the thing is, who the heck is going to want to coach at Nebraska with that kind of pressure, and live in Lincoln? Callahan is bringing in 4 and 5 star recruits (although they sure didn't look like it against SoCals 4 and 5 star'ers), and is yet to cash in a title with them. I personally don't think NU will ever be at the level they were in the mid-90s, that was a special, once in a lifetime era of NU football... but stupid NU fans thought it could last forever. There was an aura with the program then, something that a long-time staff under Osborne developed, and it's not there anymore.

We were out for dinner Saturday night and I checked in at half on the NU/USC game. It was something like 35-10 or some crazy score.

I told my father-in-law with a little chuckle. He asked who I was rooting for and asked if I was a "Big 12" guy.

I said I normally would be, but it's Nebraska and the number 1 team. So if they were to actually win -their fans would be more unbearable than usual.

Their problem, since Osborne's retirement, has been defense. They have a bunch of players that will get drafted, but they seem to lack the defensive schemes that allowed them to dominate when they were the "black shirts".

Callahan has to stop worrying about being an offensive coordinator, and he has to start managing the whole team. He shouldn't be a head coach. He should run an offense, and let someone else run the show.

Oh well, the longer he's there, the better it is for us.

As much as I don't like NU, I was always impressed with their option attack. Maybe that was because it put up like 600 points on us every year.

Solich got canned for going 9-3 so gotta think if they don't do something this year he's going to feel the heat.

Word is, it was more than going 9-3 that got Solich fired. Alledgedly there were some sexual escapades going on. I have nothing but hearsay to back that up, mind you. But who among us is not up for wild speculation and rumor mongering?

I saw alot of good things from Keller and the WR's Saturday night, but the play of the front 7 on defense was atricous (sp?) to say the least.

Not to mention, Solich couldn't recruit to save his life. Getting blown out at home against Kansas St was the straw that broke the camels back. Supposedly, NU had a alot of kids in for offical visits that weekend and Solich never once spoke to them.
