How comical that nu fans thought they could possibly beat SC. They are fortunate that SC decided not to run it up and brought in their back-ups relatively early in the game.

I think the longer he stays, the better it will be for ISU. You know the West Coast offense works well when you have a great quarterback like Joe Montana or Brett Favre. If you don't have that it seems to be a so so thing. I like Coach Chizik's philosopy better. Run the ball to set up the pass where as the West Coast style is opposite.
I probably have less sympathy for Nebraska than Iowa. They ran Solich out of town after a 9-3 year.
Then they expected every coach in the nation to come on bended knee to Lincoln to get the chance for the job. :skeptical:I thought it was hilarious when they sent their jet down to Arkansas to bring the new coach home and the guy said no thanks. :biglaugh: That is pure arrogance.:skeptical:

I think most posts are being too harsh. This is Bill's fourth year - would we be satisfied to be at the same point in four years? USC has been recruiting 4-5 star kids for years. NU hasn't. NU doesn't have the talent on campus to play at their level. To Bill's detriment, he took over a succesful program and didn't have as steep a hill as Chizek. As a Lincoln resident, I know NU diehards have unrealistic expectations and are intolerable for a non-Husker Fan. We'll be in the SW corner in a couple of weeks, I hope we can be competitive.
I disagree. This wasn't a rebuilding project at Nebraska. The West Coast offense is a different style and the quarterback and receivers are the most important component, but you still run and block.

I agree the longer he stays great for ISU! Because when he is gone and the AD realizes the mess and pick up there jock strap and hire a run dominated coach Neb will be back and back to potential glory...until then KEEP OLD WILLIAM FOREVER!!!!

Billy C and the AD are pretty much joined at the hip. If the program isn't in the hunt for a national title in 2-3 years, things will heat up for both of them. They have set themselves up for failure with some of their past boasts and promises.
He just signed an extension through 2011 and has no buyout clause. NU is on the hook for $1.5 million a year regardless of how bad he does. That would be tough to buyout early, even for NU.

It depends on what part of Omaha you live in. West of 42nd street, you are right. But it is amazing how few Husker fans there are east of 42nd St. I think because the minorities mostly don't care about Nebraska football. Harry Husker is a big white guy, after all.
Maybe UNL should consider a racially-neutral mascot.
I realize that NU fans are quite angry that they are no longer a national powerhouse but I think a few other factors to deal with(besides the coach) that have laid the smack down on the NU program. The Big 8 going to the big 12 made things more difficult.
IIRC they won thier last NC in the 1st year of the Big 12, but back in those Big 8 days Colorado and Oklahoma were the only teams to pose any challenge, and they for the most part destroyed everyone else. Add in some Texas schools and include a conference championship game and things are a lot more dicey. You can figure that texas most of the time is going to be a very solid team, and at least 1 other texas school as well each year(if scheduled).
I dont know just how much a part of the offense the option/wishbone was, but i remember them running it a ton in the late 80's/90's. With the emphasis on a pro style offense, and NU just being "another" school" i doubt they will every bring in as many of those 4 and 5 star atheletes like they did under Osbourne to dominate on the ground.

Hillary and the Nebraska mascot are kind of like jellyfish. Only THEY really know whether they are a male or female....
I don't think Nebraska fans can handle/understand the parity that is occuring in CFB now. They got so used to running up the score on everyone that now that the talent gap is closing in, they can't handle the thought of not getting 600 yards/game.
