On the offensive side of the ball we gave up on the running game, the offensive line reverted back to the first few games of the season and had trouble blocking people. Purdy struggled without a doubt. No one was sharp at all, Hall made a few runs that showed his potential, but that was about it.

On the defensive side, worst tackling game of the year, by far. We gave up more long plays for touchdowns yesterday than we had the entire year in three. TO ratio was 1 to 3, we dropped a sure pass interception when it hit one of our DB's right in the hands.
We also missed another field goal and had a kickoff go out of bounds after we tied up the game late.

We get a much needed week off, and then OU away after they dropped their first game.
You have to give OSU credit, they were reeling and went on the road to win a much needed game.

Now thats funny bosco....for 50 years its always been Maybe next year, right?.....with our football program.....Going into this season I thought we would win 8 games but after the choke eye game I downgraded to 6 wins and I still think thats where we end up.....

The theme of many sports write-ups I have read this morning was "We've only lost 3 by only a total of 10 points" etc....I even read our players are parroting this....

Like ye olde coach said...It goes into the record book as either a win or a loss ...It never sez how many yards or first downs you made ....the only thing that matters is did you win or lose.....

we have less room for error now but the path is still there to make the CCG after this weekend. OU and Tex both losing helps..

It is not melt down time. Despite all the talk about the OL being seniors, this is a very young team and they are going to have games like yesterday. I thought the coaches did a poor job of putting Purdy in comfortable situations when it was clear he was struggling throwing the ball. Just need to rest up, get a few guys healthy and figure out how to make the running game work better so Purdy doesn't have to be the total focus of the offense.

Purdy Chocked

Too bad Baylor is in the Title Game if we win out we are too
Purdy didn’t play well yesterday. With that said I don’t think he played anywhere near as bad as people are acting. He still completed over 60% of his passes and threw for 382 yards. I haven’t rewatched on tv, and I’m not sure I have the willpower to do it, but I thought it was just an all around bad game plan. I wasn’t seeing these open receivers that he was just missing. I saw receivers who were just flat out not getting open especially after the play broke down. I saw a line that really struggled to protect. Yeah it was one of Purdy's worst games. Yeah he threw some picks but I think that was him trying to force stuff after nothing being there all game. That still wasn’t that bad of a game though.
Fire Campbell, hes taken us as far as he can

Am i doing this right???
You say this as a joke but leaving the game someone said that Campbell is no better than Rhoads, Chizik, McCarney, and Walden. We absolutely did not play as well as we should have but the amount of downright idiotic crap is stupid.

Ignoring our game yesterday my prediction would have gone up to 9-3. With us losing I have us staying at 8-4. Our fan base has way to many pessimistic fans. All game was people ******** about how we played. It makes the game miserable to others and compounds on the teams poor play.

Should people be happy with yesterday? No absolutely not but it was a really bad game against a decent OSU team and we only lost by 7. For as bad as it was we were still in the game. We need to take the bye week and rest recover and get back to playing Cyclone football.

The game planning and calling was the root cause to me. Defensive coaches try to make the other team one dimensional without selling out Do that and you usually win.
DL can just pin their ears back and the OL is on their heels. They also had a LB with no responsibilities other than to spy Purdy on most plays. Purdy was confused and locking in on a receiver. Up to the coaches to adjust to something that works. Most simply that was running the ball against a team that can't stop the run. I think they fooled ISU with pre snap looks big time.
Need RPO and RO. Fits a personnel strength and is a bear to defend.
Bad game by the offensive staff but Manning hasn't been coaching long and is only in his 3rd year as a coordinator. The offense has put up some yards but needs to finish drives and be more consistent.

Do you see ISU winning in a close game vs. OU, UT, or KSU based on how things have gone in other close games that aren't UNI?

They could still do some things...I'd expect 7-5 at this point, but the trends that have led to the losses are defining the team.

Anyone else notice on a lot of those INTs we had more than one WR right in the area too?

On a couple of those late ones, we had WRs going across the middle in opposite directions and both in the same exact area, with a lot of OSU defenders as well. And then Purdy throwing off his back foot and basically throwing up jump balls didn't help either.

If we finish 2-2, we will be a shoe-in for Camping World in Orlando which was probably always going to be our destination if we didn’t break into Big 12 Championship.

If season ended today, Baylor and OU get in to NY6. Texas to Alamo.

KSU can be good but hasn’t shown any ability to do that consistently. UT has shown that they really just aren’t in that top tier. OU showed they aren’t unbeatable. If I had to predict each game remaining I’d have us winning out after Oklahoma.

Are Texas fans ready to show Herman the door yet? How can Texas not be in the national conversation for this long is just mind boggling. They have all the $$$ they could ever want, all of the best talent right there in the state, and some of the best facilities etc in the country, but have not been a factor at all for a very long time.

Just reading the Nebraska boards and Frost's post-game comments......wowzer........brothers and sisters, we are in such a better place than those mentally disturbed people. They are so freaking deserving too......especially Frost. He doesn't get it. Berating his own players backhandedly and directly. Constantly comparing to a time when they had partial qualifiers and criminals and Big 8 teams with only student athletes and 1/10 the Athletic budget on the schedule......Reality sucks now for them. Love it. They could lose out....and very well may.

That's fair.

I'm guessing 2-2. 10 pointish losses the next two and finishing on positive notes and hopefully figuring it out for 10 pointish wins over KU and KSU.
