Taggart never set the world on fire at ISU, but he was only here for a year and was sick and lost a bunch of weight to boot. I don't get why we bag on him so much. He had a pretty good career at Memphis. don't see putting him in the same group with Ricky Morgan.

Didn't Ricky Morgan last at ISU for less than a season himself? Let's not throw him under the bus if we're going to use not being at Iowa State very long as a gauge for how good a guy was as a player.

"Tricky Ricky" was supposed to be a highly sought after PG that even Michigan State was recruiting at the time. He turned out to be a complete bust, both on and off the court.
Melvin Ejim will be very well prepared for Iowa State, since he's played in one of the top prep programs nationally for 2 years. That is a huge advantage. He's been away from home for 2 years, plus played a much higher level of basketball than the traditional freshman. If I'm a college coach, I'm recruiting the prep schools (legit ones) non-stop, since they have been away from home, in academic environment, weight training, surrounded by other top level players, etc.
How many D1 players did Ejim play with during his 2 years at Brewster? I can only imagine how many Brewster plays against in the New England Prep League.

Justin Hamilton, not well-spoken. Scott Christopherson (maybe we can tag him with the nickname "Christo"?) is fairly well spoken. Brackins is very well spoken.
I think I get the point, too, which is that you're implying it's a race thing -- that white folks act surprised if a black person is very articulate. I'm sure that happens, but there's no reason to assume that's the case this time.
Plus, it might not be about ethnicity but rather a stereotype of college athletes (assume they're dumbies until they prove they're not), or a stereotype of all youth these days ("they all mumble").
But back to the list... Shaq mumbles something fierce but is witty as all get-out. Does that qualify as well-spoken?
