Just a word of caution on this. Sam R is going to go through the same thing AA went through in his time at QB. This will be his third OC in his fourth year here. I dont see Rhoads going too far outside the box in hiring an OC with a different scheme or we get that large learning curve we had not too long ago.

Richardson is not starter, and not in same category as AA at all. Apples and oranges.

Sam R will have nothing to do with who Rhoads hires.

I want to give credit to PR. I did not have confidence that he would make the necessary choice, but he did. He also appears to have done so without hesitation and very cleanly.

Now for part two: a home run hire. The speed of this announcement gives me faith that he is already well into the process (as he should be).

Tight ends have been doing all right. It was him at o-line that was the problem.

Bibbs was one of the top JuCo tight ends in the country last season. I don't think the success at tight end can be given to Bliel given how poor he was as a line coach. That success was because we brought in a playmaker. One good season when you have a great player doesn't erase multiple horrible seasons when you had multiple NFL caliber guys on the line.

Are you serious?

I'm being serious. It's not like we are going to be able to go out and immediately secure a Tom Moore or Jason Garret.

I think O'keefe was held back in his play calling by the head coach there. Look at what his offenses did prior to his arrival at Iowa. He may just entertain the idea of calling plays in a wide open offense without heavy interference.

CPR made the right decision. I hope this works out positively for the program and we upgrade both positions.

Sucks to see anyone lose their job but they'll both land on their feet.

Agree. They may not have got it done on the field, but they deserve respect.

I won't cheer for someone to lose their job, but it clearly needed to happen. And I'm sure Mess is relieved, as he knew it was coming. Wish the best for both of them.

Need to find a guy that doesn't over complicate things either. Herman was a huge hire but I think his brain was to much at times.

Herman was held back a lot by talent. He never had a solid outside of AA, who was a bad fit for the offense.

Herman would have done a lot better with the current talent IMHO.

This is well stated. My thoughts exactly. Bottom line is you can be the best OC, doctor or mechanic, if you don't have the right tools your in trouble.
