Would it be more common in the big 12 or other conferences if they received more allocations?

How about moving all conference championships (those that establish the automatic conference qualifiers) to early (quarter or third) in the season and use the remaining season strictly for at-large selections?

Also I admit I don't know all of the differences between an injury default and a MFF so I'd like to know the rationale for creating two names for the same thing.

Injury Default happens after the match starts. MFF, the wrestler never steps on the mat.
Injury Default counts as a loss, since the match started. MFF doesn't count as a loss since the wrestler never stepped on the mat

I think that’s part of the problem. “Easier” to just call it a day and say that the “bigger picture” is Nationals and conference doesn’t mean anything. No one remembers you got 6th at conference when you get 2nd or 3rd at Nationals.

Probably. They discuss changing the way allocations are done or the timing of the allocation announcement.

I’m not nearly as knowledgeable as many fans here on CF, but I really enjoy this podcast. The guys often adamantly disagree, but they’re okay with it - don’t take themselves too seriously. It’s refreshing.

For Iowa, this year is about winning a NCAA championship. Sure they wanted to win the Big 10's, but NCAA is the big picture.

Iowa's super seniors did not come back to win a Big 10 title. None of them have won an individual NCAA title, that is why they came back.

I would agree. You don't wrestle a scheduled match in a tournament and it is a loss. One 1 guy/weight should come out of a tournament with a undefeated record.

Then is just have the ducking problem in duals and that is harder to fix

I feel like bull is the only one that wouldn't surprise me. Even then he never seems to be able to get it done.

Considering the social media promotion of Marinelli's 4th conference title, saying its not worth it is weird of the Hawks. They didn't say that Marinelli actually had 5 attempts at that title, but ehhhhh.

There’s a ridiculous post on HR by a parent calling out those complaining about the MFF and defending the coaches as having the athlete’s best interest in mind. If they had the athlete’s best interest in mind, they would not wrestle injured at all. The very capable backup would be allowed their shot.

If the parents cared more about their kids than their inflated ego they never would of let their kid go to Iowa in the first place.

I would actually be pretty surpised if Iowa ended up with a champion. Desanto just isn't going to beat Fix or RBY. Eierman could beat Lee, but it would surprise me. Bull would have to prove he wont fold at NCAAs and history isn't on his side. Kem just seems too banged up to get through that 174 bracket intact. There are too many good guys at 197 for Warner to successfully navigate that IMO. And Gable exists, so sorry Cass.

I think Eierman is banged up too. Of course Rivera defaulted out too. I figured 141 was a 3 man race between Lee, Eierman and Rivera. Not sure anyone will touch a heathy Lee now.
