So on one hand Miller & Deace preach that consistency in coaching staffs is what wins in college but they want GMac canned yesterday.

Also, they preach that before you can a coach, you better have someone BETTER lined up as a replacement.

Mr. Miller, you fit the "mold" of a true Hawkeye. You come across as somewhat "entitled", smug at times, have a cheshire cat grin, slip us ISU fans a handshake as you are sliding the switch blade between our ribs, offering us EXLAX in place of a girl scout cookie and all the while would run through hell with gasoline pants on to watch Hawkeye football. IB

About the only thing in that ramble that made sense. Smug, entitled yep, I agree 100%

I don't think consistent losing is a good way to go. Drake had consistency in Kanaskie. K-State had consistency with Woolridge.

Frankly, Deace should be ashamed of what he said about LaRon Dendy today.

For those of you who didn't hear - He is so sure that LaRon will get in some off-court problem before next basketball season that he was willing to bet Miller a car on it. Honestly, I was offended and that takes a lot to do.

Deace can say things like that because he's born again and has no faults. :jimlad:

Mac is trying to help LaRon...Comments like that **** me off.

I didn't hear this since I was late leaving the house today. My only thought... LaRon has left the team high and dry twice now this season. Who says he doesnt' do it again?? I'm willing to bet he will do someting off the court again before next season to get in trouble again with the coach. It is a long time till next season. Heck he couldn't make it a month before the first incident.

Then all this bull about Deace not knowing anything about ISU???? Sorry KG... I used to respect the hell out of you. But lately ... Not so much. That guy knows more about ISU then almost anyone on this board. You can cheer for 2 teams the last time I checked... I didn't know there was a rule book on how to be a fan. He knows more then 3/4 of the fans do... Plus, as evident of his one show a few years ago, he knows the flippin fight song when 5 students that were fans didn't.

I don't mind Deace not watching ISU basketball this year.... Heck sometimes it's so terrible that I would rather puncture my eyes with a sharp pencil. He is only speaking his mind and opinion that many people share in all honesty. His analogy about making a bad product and someone being stupid enough to buy it is a dead ringer for ISU Basketball. He never ripped the coach for being a bad guy. Just being a bad coach.

Some of you guys act like your soo much better being a fan, or being a better talk show host. It's a joke. You guys need to grow up. You will criticize a talk show host about being "terrible" in your opinion, but yet you won't rip McD for being a terrible coach or doing a terrible job that records will back up.

Wow...

The problem I have with Deace generally has little to do with any of his individual arguments. He often makes alright arguments. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I disagree, which is not the problem. I don't expect to agree with everybody.

My problem is his holier-than-thou and angry demeanor. I want to listen to sports talk and analysis of local teams, which should be a fun, entertaining way to spend some time win or lose. But instead I tune in and hear some clown speak as though he is preaching from the heavens about how the fact that the local teams suck is a moral failure of both the team and of the fans that support them. Not just that, but it is often spoken with an arrogant tone full of extreme vitriol and anger. It sucks enough that my team is losing. The last thing I want to hear is some pseudo fan spew constant negativity about the team, and then attack the character of fans who try to remain positive and supportive of the program.

On yesterday's broadcast, he said ISU fans that support McDermott should be forced to turn in their voter registration card and should be registered on the child sex offender list. One ISU fan called in happy about ISU's win over KSU. Deace responded saying if that's all it takes to make him happy about ISU basketball, Deace hopes he becomes a customer of his if he ever starts a business so that he can rape him blind while taking his money. One would assume these statements were made in a joking, sarcastic manner but it was spoken with seriousness and anger.

Really? This is what I should put up with? This is supposed to be entertaining and enjoyable? Now I know Deace isn't really serious about this. (At least I hope so. He's nuts so ya never know.) But I'm sorry, sports should be fun, and I simply won't put up with this level of discourse when listening to what ultimately should be an entertainment product.

Here's one of my problems. A lot of times he relates things to business. OK, fine, but if he knows so much about business why is he working in a relatively small market on a small market show? I would think such a shrewd businessman could start a business or market themselves to a much higher level than what he is. He just seems so arrogant. I mean so does Colin Cowherd but guess what, he made it big. People in Iowa don't tune into an AM station to hear about they should live there life and how they should support the Cyclones.

Another thing is he is a Michigan fan. Those are two completely different fan bases. Much of the Michigan fan base does not hold the connection to the school that most of us do. I know I certainly don't and I am a Michigan fan. ISU fans, for the most part have a connection to this University. Most went here, the family went here, they grew up a cyclone etc. It is a totally different ball game but I think he treats them the same.

I listen to these guys in the shower, its better than listening to running water.

In general they provide a low grade entertainment value in between day care drop offs and i-235 traffic.

Deace has been offered radio gigs in larger markets. He doesn't want to move.

I stand corrected then on that point. Does he give a reason why?

He wants to stay close to Ames so he can continue to be the Cyclone representative on the radio in this area.

And this is where he wants to raise his family.

OK, thanks for correcting me. I guess I just assumed by the way he comes off, he would want to rise within his field. I have no problem with him wanting to stay around, in fact it is almost admirable. I still have a problem with his high and mighty attitude though. Obviously he is successful with it because we are talking about it but it turns me off.

You know, Deace talks about religion and morality and you don't like it. I do. I don't agree with his religious choice, but I do support a man who isn't afraid of telling us that he belives in God. We need a lot more of that.

Miller and Deace paraphrased: Let me say something outrageous so we can incite a multi-page thread over there at Cyclone Fanatic so we have something to talk about tomorrow....it really doesn't make for the best radio imo. Earlier this week Deace said he loved JP but they were going to have issues if he didn't fire McD...Oh really? Deace knew McD wasn't going anywhere, just wanted to stir the pot...
