If Thomas continues his impressive play, we are a better team with Thomas and Cooke. Naz was not playing well this season, and it wasn't just his shooting. He will continue to be a leader off the court and on the bench. The only thing we will miss on the court is his ability to get extremely hot in a couple of games. Thomas and Cooke haven't shown that type of explosiveness from beyond the arc. But we will benefit from more secure ball handling, improved defense and more touches for our more efficient players. I love Naz and hope he can fully recover for next season. He would be a huge addition to that roster.

Exactly where I'm at. Naz hasn't looked GOOD good in quite a while.

Re: Long Out Rest of Season

Best wishes to you , Naz! Get well soon. You will be missed on the court, but you are still here, so...

Unfair to expect a Final Four. We may have a great season and still finish 2nd or 3rd in the conference. To expect Final Fours, you have to be favorite in your conference. There is no way we are the favs in B12.

Losing Naz is not the same as losing Georges, McKay, or Monte. Not even close. I would argue that losing Nader would be a bigger deal because we're so thin at the 4/5 spot.

We probably have more depth at this position than we do anywhere else with Hallice and Matt. Burton being able to play 3 also helps because now you have multiple backcourt combinations available and George can always play point forward for a few minutes here and there.

Cant believe people are thinking we're now suddenly not a top 5-10 team because of who is arguably our least impactful starter. Especially when said starter leads the team (i believe) in turnovers and is shooting 20-something percent from 3.

Does it make us vulnerable in games with foul trouble or injury? No question. But i really don't think it changes our season.

We beat UNC in the tourney 2 years ago without Niang for God's sake.

And before people jump in and talk about leadership (which is fair), remember this is Georges' team without question. And it's pretty clear Monte is who we want to have the ball at the end of games.

Super sad for Naz, but just don't see how this changes the season dramatically. There are other players that would have been infinitely worse.

Doesn't matter if you are the fav in your conference or not. To expect a final four out of your team (besides teams like UK 2012) is foolish. Everything has to go right. Matchups in the tournament are huge. This isn't the NBA where you play a series during the playoffs. In the NCAA, if you have an off night, you're going home. There is no 7 game series to save you from an off night. Even the best teams' title hopes can be shattered by a George Mason that catches fire at the perfect time.

Alex Halsted said that Naz practiced with the team today. He's out for the season obviously, but getting in some work.

I think he's been practicing with the team most of the season, it's just that today is the first time he was able to go full.

Hope he's feeling good. Love the young man and is one of my favorite Cyclones of all time.

I thought an article a couple weeks ago said it was in the hands of the Big 12 and that the NCAA wasn't involved in the decision.
