Yay, everything in the Big 12 is just hunky dory like it has always been! What were we worried about? We're so dumb!!
Thanks AAC, I knew I could count on you. Actually, to reiterate, a plan was laid out weeks ago and it is moving along nicely. One only needs to remember what the problem was......... a horrible inequity across schools (e.g.TX). Fix that, using something similar to the Big Ten model, and you get stability. From there you become attractive to alot of schools (we play very GOOD football... look at the scores!!) and you work to bring in those that will bring the most value and money to the conference. Only the knee-jerk morons like yourself have turned this into a crisis. Leaders get ahead of the game and turn potential problems into opportunities. Thank Gawd JP/GG and the OU leadership saw this and took action. Looks very promising to me, just as I laid out nearly a month ago, the day after the UNI game. Who would have thought just 2 weeks ago that the Big XII could easily live through another school defecting, yet here we are, MU can go and we will be just fine. We even have a good idea who the replacements will be and, for the most part, everyone seems not only happy but excited. So keep wringing your hands and mouthing off, I like the plan and it is obviously working. I know there are quite a few people on here that have been following and agree with me. ISU has great leadership.

Rebeca, what can we expect Texas to "give up" in order to become a more equitable conference? Just 1st and 2nd tier rights? Is there wrangling over 3rd tier rights going on? i only follow this stuff a little bit and less an less every day.

What needs to be done to make the B12 attractive?

Win all nonconference games.

Have a real commish.

Develop a Big 12 Network.

Put everything in writing.

Get a new PR department.

Tell Bevo that he looks dashing every day.

For those of you wondering about the Lou Brock reference. When I lived in St Louis, I was a member of the Missouri Athletic Club in the city (downtown). I made a reference to talking with Lou Brock, who is also a member of the club, and I have been chastised ever since. Apparently no one actually ever talks with Lou Brock.

I don't know the answer but I'm convinced it has to be viewed as a major concession by the others. In other words, a clear non-reversible move by TX toward equity.

Jamie Pollard was quoted yesterday saying that Tier 3 rights - such as the LHN - will remain with the school. There is no indication that sharing Tier 3 money is on the table - exactly the opposite. Pollard, in his quote, construed this as a positive selling point for the B12:

He also stressed that the Big 12's policy of allowing each school to keep its third-tier TV rights -- a move that allowed creation of the Longhorn Network and other school-run networks and websites within the league -- is viewed as a positive in seeking expansion candidates. "That's a hallmark of our league," Pollard said. "It's an advantage to our league. Yes, third-tier rights will remain the property of our schools."

The only items Texas will concede to as a B12 member is not televising any conference FB games on LHN and not showing any HS content on LHN with the exception of video highlight packages of signed recruits (which Clone Zone does). They will also agree to full sharing of Tier 1 and 2 TV revenues which was already in the works. I doubt they concede to anything more than that. If Mizzou, OU and UT cannot agree to these concessions, there will probably be another round of realignment moves and this one will likely be the mother of them all.

I'll believe it when I see it.

As for now, I believe Missouri is not leaving.

I think the league's major "talk" should getting BYU in asap though, and getting us back to 10 teams at least.

I think that the Big 12 need 12 teams or 9 teams, 10 does no good unless you do not play one conference team every year, like the Big 10 use to do. Teams like ISU need to have 4 non-conference games to improve their chances to get to a bowl. Mostly what the conference needs is stability......

If you're right then what else do they have to negotiate? It would be done wouldn't it? But they clearly are still hard at work.

Hard to guess what could be on the table cuz I don't really understand how revenue distribution occurs now. Maybe Tier 1 and 2 rights does it. But at the end of the day, what the "have not's" consider to be "conference money" needs to be shared equally amongst all the conference teams. It's obvious that some teams have a better brand and they should certainly be allowed to reap those "team" benefits. But the culture of making all the teams more competitive with a better distribution of CONFERENCE dollars must win out. At least that's how I see it and I expect it to happen. Obviously, I'm not sure how, but I'll bet there is a plan in place.

I would be very happy if this was the final outcome. I have no problem with the teams owning their 3rd tier rights as long as that's all it is and we don't have any more of this nonsense where ESPN is pushing to buy out other school's rights to broadcast conference games or show highschool games. That's the only legitimate gripe here.

Really sounds like Mizzou is gonzo. Heard a rumor that to get to 14 the league will add:

Boise St
BYU
WVU
Lville
UCF
USF

That wouldn't suck.....

I would take that. That would be a very good FB conference. Basketball would be no slouch either with L-ville and WVU.
