That's hilarious Bill and Deb have spent tons have time building support for WBB and ISU. Bill's got his faults but his passion for ISU and the sport is off the charts.

I could see Bill not wanting attention for him, but I find it hard to believe he wouldn't want his players recognized and appreciated by the local media.

I’m not on HawkeyeReport but some ding-dong had a sour grapes post about how ISU/Otz are not legit because we haven’t beaten “legit tournament teams”… we only beat LSU and Wisconsin and oh by the way, Miami won’t count either.

Let’s not forget we beat TTech, Texas, Memphis, IOWA, Creighton, TCU.

Can’t fix stupid.

He probably doesn’t realize that we’re literally undefeated vs non-B12 teams.

That says a lot, IMO.

Testifying
Someone pointed out to Murph And Andy one day that they don't talk a lot about the ISU women and Andy said, "I think Bill Fennelly prefers it that way ... to fly under the radar." My eyes rolled so far back in my head.
Weird thing for Andy to say considering Bill was on with Travis and Heather for at least 15 minutes this morning.

Look... I love Emily Ryan. And ISU ladies have maybe taken a back seat due to Iowa women's big run thru conf. tournament. BUT....I refuse to choose. Different type players. And CC can flat out flick her wrist and get off a shot from anywhere. We can still love Emily and respect CC, too. (Note: I don't think the Texas freshmen pt. guard could have used the same philosophy on defense vs. Clark that she did against us in the big12 tournament.) Again, different type players even tho both point guards. Did I mention I love Emily Ryan?

This is the correct answer. CC is a volume shooter/scorer and every possession runs through her. It was a matter of time before Iowa ran into a team that played physical and whether that be Creighton or South Carolina, it wasn't going to bode well for them. The book has been out on them for months... make things difficult for CC and make the rest of the Iowa ladies hit shots.

Thread is full of reasons I am glad to have now lived most of my life outside of Iowa. Also, not subject to work ******** since I've retired and even than it was never bad. Of course, being an engineering agency it was a little bit of a Hawk free zone. Hell, even the engineering dudes from Nebraska were decent guys. Even Badger neighbor texted we a fans congratulations on the win.

More Hawkeye doctors here than true Tavern Hawks like those that populate fan forums. Last specialist I saw was a Hawk and turned out he was in my nieces class from Carver College of Medicine. This > tavern hawks.

I could see Bill not wanting attention for him, but I find it hard to believe he wouldn't want his players recognized and appreciated by the local media.

The local coverage is small potatoes in what is important for PR. A lot of PR for Iowa WBB comes from the Big 10 network. I've watched a handful of Iowa games and all of the ISU games, less the Texas LHN one and the holiday tourney. Despite that I've seen more Clark and Czinano game interviews than ISU player interviews. Seems Big 10 always sticks around for post game interviews and ESPN+ just cuts the stream as soon as the game is over without bothering with the courtside interviews. Can't say for sure because the Iowa games I saw were on the main BTN and not the streaming. Those casual interviews are better at building a 'brand" than the boring post-game coach speaks and idiot questions from local beat writers IMHO. We are getting those courtsides now in the NCAA's but not a lot during the season unless were are on the flagship channel that game. Throw in that there is no real Big 12 network independently producing interviews and features (which they will put on during timeouts and at halftime) and we are just behind in the PR game.

I also think it's a little bit program culture. ISU has always seemed to be more "be seen, not heard". Some of it is just personalities to, we've seemed to have had quit a few of our top stars that are somewhat introverted, or so it seems in my limited personal experience. Just an observation from an INTJ. ;)

Example: Four years ago a courtside interview with than freshman Aliyah Boston cemented me being a fan of her. Already thought "Ah, she's pretty good" but that moved the needle to "Ah, she's pretty likeable."
