Solid points. I'm a huge fan of that 05 defense. But again, competition comes into play. That 2005 team didn't see the offenses that 2012 will see. That's just a fact. I believe that 05 team missed out on Texas and Oklahoma off the top of my head. Saw some good ones but nothing like this.

Obviously team-wise, I see a similarity in that today's team and that team are completely carried by the defense while the offense is dragging the whole team down. I'm dreading a repeat of that season where there is so much potential, but we end up in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Speaking of which, remember the 2005 team losing to TCU in that bad bowl after losing to KU?..

The 2005 team was the most frustrating Iowa STate team I remember. Soft schedule. Pardon the cliche', but it was a group that just didn't know how to win. Nebraska, Baylor, Kansas, TCU, etc. That team should have been at least 10-2 and in the Holiday Bowl. Defense was nasty. Meyer-Blythe combo was great. No line and lack of a running game is what ultimately did them in.

Doesn't seem to be enough focus on special teams. This may be the first time all year that Kirby has been outpunted. Granted, he made a great one on the K-State turnover, but he also had the flubbed one. Yet, the biggest punt of the day was the last one that pinned us on the 1. That was a killer.

I sit low in the endzone and their line just seemed to get even more huge at the end of the game. It had to be really hard for JB to see anything.

I'm fairly tired of giving up a score right after we score. It seems to happen more often than not. Kills the mo bigtime.
