Start thinking like JP and think "Why not Iowa State? Why the hell not? JP asked for fans - we came. He asked for money - we gave! He asked for a little more patience and we stayed! He opened the door to a vision - NO MORE DOOR MAT! F. U. Big 12 - we are coming cuz - THE NATION RISES! GO CLONES!

I like the way this guy thinks

Can I get odds on Matt Campbell:
- taping Iowa jerseys to the floor of the hallway leading to the locker room during hate week
- installing a DJ booth in the weight room for summer workouts
- extolling the virtues of drinking milk
- being fitted for a custom diamond grill when we win the Big XII
- borrowing any other Herman/Briles/Harbaugh related awesomeness

For real change the Iowa game needs to be an afterthought outside of maybe being a recruiting battle.

I liked the article except for the idea that playing in the Big 12 is a reason for failure. The conference has some nice teams but it's not like they're unstoppable. 6-7 wins were there last year with some competency and a couple of breaks, and that's even with the coaching situations.

If ISU has consistency and wins some real games next year without making the coaching change be a crutch (obviously some things will take time), then it may actually be different.

I really enjoy CW's articles, but get so spoiled reading Rob Gray's masterpieces that everything appears mundane and elementary for a few days afterward.

The truth: I respect CW as an Iowa State graduate that has worked to promote Iowa State athletics full-time, and I appreciate that we have a well-run, free site where we can discuss the Cyclones. But I find his content and commentary to be completely embarrassing as an Iowa State fan. It's unfortunate that we don't have stronger representatives in the media and instead have to listen to/read CW and Randy Peterson. Do I take it too seriously? Probably.

Dude seriously? I can't think of a more level headed..honest..dedicated..and compassionate Isu fan than CW..he gets us and is us. If it weren't for CW and this site our experience as an Isu fan would certainly be lessened.

I'm right there on the verge of 50 as well and I don't have a problem with anything CW said about the Majors era. You are correct with the Pete Taylor comment as well. I love seeing the enthusiasm with the fans today. It brings back some good memories of the Earl Bruce era for me. I like that Campbell and Co. are all over twitter and any social media platform that gives them any kind of edge...insert Ashley Madison jokes here...The way I see it, whatever articles bring fans together and give us hope or at least, a little perspective, I'm all for.

One thing I would like to see a little more of are articles about those past decades. Majors, Bruce...even Duncan and Walden. How many on here remember the Orr/Walden Bartles and Jaymes posters?
They werent just posters they had them as cardboard cutouts that you could stand Up. I remember the first time my dog saw it. he just started barking.

How many remember the Johnny Orr face on a stick for the Iowa game?

My employer agrees with solar. They've determined they would get an additional 10-20 hours of productivity if CW was not involved with CF.

Good thing they haven't run the numbers with on CMC & his staff.

This, I really enjoy CW's writing as long until he writes about racing or WWE but that is few and far between.

Everybody has the right to their own opinion, but I find it really bizarre that the rather severe critique comes from the 'Monday Musings' bit. It's not meant to be some deep investigative journalism. It's literally just random musings. Kinda like shooting the breeze over a couple cold ones. How do you get miffed about that? Maybe sour garlic was just having a bad case of the Mondays, but geez what a downer.

I'm glad to read this. That's EXACTLY what the Musings are supposed to be. Thanks!
