Is it just named Mongolian Buffet or does it actually have a name?

It is it's name, but when you look at the building and read it "Buffet Mongolian" It's right beside the new pizza place.

Chris, how much did it cost, once we get back we were thinking of trying it.

Went there yesterday thinking new place, father's day, don't have to wait to eat which is good for the kids and my patience.

I was quickly reminded why I don't frequent buffets much anymore. People in general seem to leave their manners at the door when they go to a buffet. Milling around like cattle with little regard to how they get to their food source. It's just nasty to witness.

On the food, nothing special but not bad either. If you want to just grab some non-American food without doing the bowl-choice thing, your choices are minimal. Sushi is always readily available which is good. Lots of American food choices but ALL OF IT is fried. I concur on the egg roll magic trick...thought I was getting an egg roll turned out to be a burrito or something.

The Hu-Hot like bowl prep is good though. Choose what you want and have it prepared fresh is a good idea.

The ice cream machine is located in a terrible spot, crammed next to the area where they prepare your bowl selection. Heard several people mention this as poor layout.

What I noticed when I went there was when after getting their bowl of cooked food, people would walk by the Sushi bar and throw a few pieces on top of their cooked noodles....

I asked the Sushi guy if he enjoyed preparing sushi to see it thrown on top of a big bowl of beef and noodles and he started laughing......

I would agree the layout is a little odd.....

on a not so related note.
Here in Denver we don't have Chinese buffets. We have Chinese food by the scoop. I **** you not.
Usually like 1.50 per scoop or something like that. People in Colorado must think they are to good to eats out of troths.

Well, if it's anything like our house, just wait for her to want to eat out, and then it's ok or doesn't count or something.

I thought it was average at best.

It's not as good as Hu Hot or Genghis Grill, but it's a Mongolian barbecue in Ames. I salute that.

The rest of the buffet consisted of bland foods that one would expect at a O-C-B. Which I do not salute.

I tried it, but it won't be on my short list of places to eat.

If it's a healthy thing, you can let her know that Weight Watchers lists almost all of the food as 0-3 points (the buffet stuff) Depending on how much meat she puts in or if she uses peanut oil.

If it's a cost thing....it's cheaper during the week.
