Yeah, this might be the most ridiculous rumor yet.

Sorry Hawkfan, not taking a shot at you here, but this crap is just to the point where it lacks all common sense.

Makes more sense if the Big Ten dumps Iowa's *** and adds B.C. Boston tv market is slightly larger than Cedar Rapids. Just the rumor I heard.

On the road...
By far the most ridiculous scenario I have ever heard. I stopped taking this serious when he said that ND and Texas would only have to play 7 conference games. What moron AD or school president or conference rep. would take that thought seriously?:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

Pretty damn arrogant to come on a Cyclone board and declare your thread the "official" thread where everything should be posted. Can't say I'm suprised by anything Hawk fans do on this board though.

Re: ****THE OFFICIAL CONFERENCE EXPANSION THREAD****

rworkman:

I stated explicitly in my initial title that once ACTUAL news broke, a new thread would be warranted, until then, I pretty much stated, all rumors/discussion could stay in this thread....I guess you'd rather see 75 different threads about this every day. :skeptical:

As so many of the other posters have already said for me, what you put in your original post could just have easily gone in one of the other 75 threads you talked about. While it would be nice to have just one thread with all the expansion talk, people will still post outside of that thread.

The reason your title was changed was because there was nothing official about your thread. It was the same as all the others. I see nothing wrong with the new thread title, as what you posted is just that, another rumor about expansion.

Re: ****THE OFFICIAL CONFERENCE EXPANSION THREAD****

None of this crap people are talking about is going to happen. I would bet anything the Big 12/Pac 10 hammer something out, all the schools stay and the Big 10 adds one from the big east or does nothing and patiently keeps waiting for ND to capitulate.

We need to Boycott the Big Ten and not schedule them in non-conference games. Why contribute to what could be the demise of our own conference??

I heard the following teams were thinking of getting together and making their own conference-

Texas
USC
Ohio St
Oklahoma
Florida
Duke
UNC
Kansas
Iowa

Then Iowa wins all the hardware. They already have the best football program in America. And with them being Mad again in basketball, the most up and coming program in hoops. Very unlikely based on that.

What many Big 11 fans don't realize is that although their conference teams make more in TV revenue than Texas, Texas STILL has a top 2-3 budget in the nation...maybe #1. Do you really believe that they would leave the great situation they are in for an extra $10M a year? And basically let tOSU, PSU and Michigan in their state to recruit? Ain't gonna happen. We'd basically be talking huge travel costs, abandoning all of their rivalries and allowing the FB powers up north to grow. Plus they go from basically running the conference to actually having to cooperate. No way they sign up for that. Rutgers I could see. Mizzou I could see (if the Big 12 doesn't get their act together). ND I could see even though it is unlikely. Texas? No way.

The most likely scenerio as I see it is that the Big 12 puts together a new TV network with the Pac 10 and all the schools stay put. The Big 11 looks east and adds one more team (Rutgers), three at the most. The Big 12/Pac 12 Network makes too much sense for them not to do it.

If Texas and Nebraska leave the Big 12, it will be MUCH harder on ISU than it will be on Iowa. Without any doubt, ISU ends up in the MAC/MWC if Texas and Nebraska (on top of Colorado) leave the Big 12. Oklahoma/OK. St. will end up in the SEC and the remaining Big 12 teams will be hung out to dry.
you are some kind of ruuuuhtard

Good post. Path of least resistance is a b12/pac 10 alliance. There is way too much at risk for Texas to be doing anything crazy, they have it made now, and they know it. They don't want to rock the boat too much.

I have also heard a rumor. Apparently, Conference USA is putting together a pretty good package and offering it to Texas, Florida, Michigan, and USC. They only want one of them, so first one to jump gets it.

See hawkfan, you're not the only one that can spout off ridiculous rumors. You realize that in your scenario, Texas and ND would only play 6 other conference games. So they could play Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Minnesota, and Michigan State and get to the championship game. There is no way that is even being discussed.
