this ... And the fact that his beloved Alma Mater sucks this year. I heard Gottlieb on XM91 one night bagging on the 'pokes. He basically said Travis Ford should be fired.

That's funny. He was on 810 another day (he's on every week as their insider) and they were talking about the possibility of Self replacing him at OSU. He said it would never happen and that Pickens could really care less about basketball and would not commit to the buyout... even though he played basketball at OSU.

DG was down on the team a week ago... now after 2 big wins, it is a classic case of him sticking by his previous statements and ignoring all contrary data.

He won't give in and give us props because he doesn't want to admit he was wrong, plain and simple.

Shame on you Diante. Revoke his lifetime Cyclone card!

Good god. To read this board, you would think he (*&*( on the team. He said ISU was "pretty good" but I guess we are a bunch of thin-skinnied ninnies.

Not sure what (*$( means, but he does sound unprepared and incompetent when it comes to sharing his views on ISU basketball. He doesn't think Royce is NBA material? Ok. That's his opinion. To continually **** on our performance in games when the production clearly contradicts what he's saying is moronic.

Good lord, the guy states his opinion (which I don't agree with) and all of a sudden he is a cyclone hater? Get some thicker skin, Doug has praised ISU tons in the past, just type in Doug Gottlieb into the search bar here at CF and you can go back and see all the compliments he has given us, hilton and especially the 99-00 team. Here are a couple of examples out of many.

Honestly, I dont' follow college basketball that closely, other than the Cyclones. I just read a bit on Doug, since I had no idea who he was. Between this guy and Craig James, it makes me wonder if ESPN is running a work release progam over there.

I assume you're alluding to the fact the Dougy G stole credit cards and bought stuff with them at his first college stop and that Craig James KILLED 5 HOOKERS.

Back on topic, I tweeted him today and asked why he had no ISU love and he tweeted back and said that we had a weak OOC schedule, (which is true) are not very good defensively, (which I don't think is true) and don't really have any good road wins (another true)

We still have to take care of business and could easily play our way out of the tournament. These next two road games are pretty big (every one is) We should beat the Okie schools. It's tough to win on the road but they would be our best two road wins to date and something nice to put on our resume.

I don't think he's a hater, just not quite sold yet. As far as Royce, I hope thats what Royce hears in the off season and gives us one more year. He could play his way into the lottery next year.

thats just bad analysis by Gottleib, at least the part about defense. we didn't get to be 6-3 in the Big12 by just "waving our hands on defense". as others point out the stats don't back up Gottleib, I've also linked Big12 stats. Last night our defense wasn't good, but down the last 6 minutes we held KSU to 4-14 to win the game and took the rebounds after their misses as well.

And our resume for the tourney still needs work. If we are 4th in the league at the end of the season, yes we are in, but right now we only have 3 wins over top100 teams and they are all at home. Although its hard to beleive OSU and A&M are ranked higher than UNI and Drake. The good part is we will have plenty of opportunities to win more games against top100 RPI teams

Gottlieb is just being a bitter D-Bag because he's still ****** that we beat Okie State and knocked them out of the national championship game. Glad to see he's professional enough not to let his personal feelings for his alma matter cloud his judgement. I actually think it will be fitting when his analysis of ISU blows up in his face. That and hide your credit cards :biglaugh:

We're now up to 42nd in RPI which isn't great, but we're making good progress.

Providence, Rice, Iowa, OSU were "disappointing" wins in terms of resume builders. I thought those wins would carry more weight. Especially Providence. They were 13-5 including a mudstomping of Louisville and have since fallen off the cliff.

He still thinks ISU doesn't make the dance.

He said today we are a tournament team, but think in the end we will come up short. He thinks we have more work to do between now and Selection Sunday. Attributes it to our pathetic OOC schedule, he thinks we are average defensively, and thinks we go 4-5 at best dwn stretch, with 3 top 100 wins all at home.

I wont argue the pathetic OOC thing, he is right, but hes dead wrong on the defense argument, and we will go 4-5 AT WORST IMO. I don't think there is any question we have more work to do, and everyone needs to remember what happened to the likes of Virginia Tech, Colorado, Alabama and Boston College last year. I think those teams all finished with 21 win, and got 1 seeds in the NIT. Right now we are at 16 wins, and with our OOC, 5 more wins this season probably wont cut it. We really need to finish better than .500 in the 2nd half of Big 12 play, and take at least one down in KC. Anything less then 22 wins, and Ill be nervous as all hell going into Selection Sunday.

Again... Not seeing much false with this.. other than ISU doesnt guard... Babb does.. the rest not so much. But Babb is good...

Otherwise he is spot on... doesnt matter though. 16-6 baby

Not really. How bout the part "he does not like white". Even if White doesnt translate into the NBA, you have to be a complete idiot not to see how he is dominating the B12. And Gottlieb is a complete idiot, so that does make sense.
