Instead of listened to you making something up, I will go by the numbers.

I am not saying all cameras do this... I am merely saying that not all cameras are worthless. Cameras are a good choice for Cedar Rapids and I-380. I am not familiar enough with I-235 in Des Moines to speak about that. I just want the "anti-all cameras" crowd to settle down and actually look at some statistics.
I have a tiger repelling rock that I put on my porch. It's been working pretty well.
The truth is, if you're going 10+ over the limit on 235 you deserve to get a ticket, whether it's by a robot or a real cop, and I have no problem with it. The issue I have is when, as previously mentioned in this thread, people jam the brakes in that area and cause traffic issues. If everyone would continue motoring along at the speed limit or <5mph over, traffic would flow just fine.
Windsor Heights' speed camera request was an obvious money grab, much more so than the origination of the current set of cameras. I-235 crosses a very small section of Windsor Heights, and that section is already right next to the area where the current cameras are. They would be essentially double-dinging speeders, as they would potentially get a ticket from DSM as well as Windsor Heights for one occurrence of speeding.
I have almost no issue with well placed speed cameras. I have a big issue with red light cameras. Also previously mentioned in this thread are the tickets that are being handed out to drivers who roll and go through a right turn on a red light after they have appropriately assessed that there is no danger in entering the intersection. I make sure to come to a complete wheels-locked stop for a full 3 count before moving forward in those intersections with the cameras as I will give them no possibility at all to ticket me. Torques the drivers off behind me, but I'm not going to pay $75 just to save a couple seconds getting through an intersection.
