No mention of KU hair styles in box score....they have very nice hair. I mean, I would be doing that stuff with my hair too when I wasn't vandalizing cars or slapping people.

Still working on the dunk stat. as I re-watch game, but I am guessing zero this game and 12 for the year.
Hair styles are called "Spikey Matty Muffs". It's the latest craze in Lawrence.

Deonte going 7-9 from 3! Seemingly a quiet 29 points & 8 rebs - but contesting Jackson's dunk after turning the ball over was a serious grown mans play.

#6. Naz getting called for a blocking foul when he clearly took a charge from the munchkin late in the game. The give em Kansas a free 3 stat of disgust.

Mason even stepped on Naz's foot!

There were times that Young had an opportunity to score in the post but the guys seemed reluctant to make a pass to the post. Maybe with more mins they'll be more comfortable giving him the ball down there.

I think I'm going with Mason having a personal best game . . . in a loss at the Phog.

I'll miss cheering against him at Hilton. Maybe one more time at the Sprint Center. Correction, maybe twice if we also meet them in the KC Regional.

Lack of stats by Young vs the impact he had on the game. I just love the fact he will get more playing time - his learning curve is almost straight up and he will be so much better by the time the NCAAs come around!

Solomon gave my buddy and I big smile when we told him how he was the "glue guy" and the reason we played well down the stretch.

His presence and hustle plays definitely gave us big spark offensively and defensively. Really excited what he can do in next couple of years.

What do you think is the most misleading stat in the box score for the KU game? What might you miss unless you looked more closely at the box score or actually watched the game?

Here are some that come to mind.

1. ISU making 18 3's . . . but Thomas having none.
2. Solomon Young going 0 for 1 FG and having only 1 point . . . but having a fantastic presence on both ends.
3. Mason having a career best game in scoring . . . but missing the shot for the win, even with a push-off.
4. ISU having only 3 rebounds in the first half and being outrebounded 45 to 25 . . . but getting boards at the end.
5. Mason going 10 for 12 from the line . . . but missing 2 of his last 4.

Not sure how they are misleading stats.

This. Looked to me like Naz was pretty well set before contact. Also, they really need to remove the block/charge arc from the lane as it seems to be ignored at most every opportunity.

On Young's free throws at the end of the game, why was that not a 2 shot foul? He went up for a tip in, is that not considered a shooting foul?

We won by 3 but it was really by 10-12 with the home cooking.

#2 for me. Young contributed a lot more than the box score shows. He's really our only true big man on this team that can go pound for pound in the paint against bigger post players and once he got an extended run of minutes he altered a lot of shots and drives to the hoop. Really hope this is the game that earns him a bigger role in the rotation, he should be getting at least 10-15 mins a game off the bench just for the sheer fact we have no post depth and Holden can't stay out of foul trouble. 4 fouls in 8 minutes for him against KU while Young did a good job of staying of foul trouble for once playing 32 minutes and committing 3 fouls. The ceiling for Young is so much higher and the only way he gets better is playing meaningful minutes. Hopefully this is the game that Prohm finally takes the training wheels off with him and just lets him play and learn from his mistakes.

I'm guessing Young and Holden both have 'catch and finish' issues. But agree that it would be nice if we could get some in the paint 'easier' buckets and a post presence for better kickouts later on. I hope its not too late to get at least a small threat of that by March.

We wondered the same darn thing at the time. Guess he was just passing it to the bucket. lol

I'm not sure why people have to rag on the officials. I thought this was probably one of the most evenly called games. My 13-year old called Naz out for sliding and leaving the floor. He was there in time no doubt, but he moved. And it was clear to me and my son that Burton moved both feet on his last three pointer and nothing was called thank goodness.

Yes they shot twice as many free throws, but we didn't drive it at them as much as they did us.

Enjoy the win.

You don't have to guess.
