What's not to like? Sure, they have some douchebags, name a place that doesn't. Great beer, great food, pro sports, foxy pale ladies, etc. The Twin Cities are running laps around everything Iowa has to offer except rednecks, sparkly jeans, fat chicks and stupid tattoos.

Some of my personal faves are: Edina Grill, Park Tavern, Gay 90's and the Smoked Salmon dip from France 44.
I work in Minneapolis but live in the suburbs so I'm confused as to whether I fall in or out of this "Minneapolis folk" group in your estimation.

Do you live near this guy above?

There's plenty of stupid tattoos and rednecks in the Twin Cities. You're just not looking in the right places.

That's not just a twin city thing... lots of dumb tatts EVERYWHERE. There are some cool ones though to be fair.

Yes, case in point: I took my son to the Sunday night Vikings game. There was a scrawny guy there in a Vikings jersey with tattoos all over, including his face and stringy varied length braids sticking up, out and all over. (Yes, meth did cross my mind.) He was being a douchebag to everyone in his section. Thankfully we were one section over. At the half he was screaming at the top of his lungs and booing at the players, coaches and whomever else he could think of while flipping the double Bookers at them. Keep in mind this is at the top of the third deck. After the game since we were in the top row we waited for the place to clear out before heading down the stairs. He was literally the only guy left in his section and he continued to rant about the loss and said, "I'm not leaving, this is my place!"

In his defense, the Vikings did $hit the bed and played $hitty, lol. ;)

Sorry about my behavior. I had too much meth that night.

Yeah, they got every call imaginable in that last drive and still had to settle for a field goal. It ended up costing them when the Cooper guy in his first NFL start drove down in 2 minutes and took the lead.

There are so many people like this at NFL games. It’s why I view attending them as going to the zoo.

Depends on what you mean by affected. There isn't that large of an area that got burned out. However there were uprisings in quite a few areas including in some suburbs.

I’m talking about property damage.

There’s a right wing talking point that Minneapolis has been destroyed and people are fleeing and it’s not really true

Exactly, I think I've been to 7 or 8 and if I never get back to one I won't be too terribly hurt by it.

The college stadium experience is SO much better.

I was thinking that I heard that crime was way up but maybe this year is better. Since Covid, my timetable seems all messed up. The riots seemed longer than just last year.

Because of recent events, I kind of assumed Iowa folks wouldn't be so cocky about their state. Sounds like they've changed a lot.
Iowans are cocky about their state? That's not been my experience. Maybe saying "Iowa nice" is cocky? Iowa doesn't really lead in anythng and that hasn't changed.

Minnesota nice was a thing way before Iowa nice was and Iowa nice isn't a real thing anyway.
