New question: more popular in Twin Cities: Gopher football or Gopher hockey?
Wisconsin is a very different culture than Minnesota, and one I strongly prefer.
Minnesota is insular and stand offish. They think the world revolves around them, and that they are vastly superior to the outside world- particularly neighboring states.
What's not to like? Sure, they have some douchebags, name a place that doesn't. Great beer, great food, pro sports, foxy pale ladies, etc. The Twin Cities are running laps around everything Iowa has to offer except rednecks, sparkly jeans, fat chicks and stupid tattoos.
Some of my personal faves are: Edina Grill, Park Tavern, Gay 90's and the Smoked Salmon dip from France 44.
Current Gay 90s? Or like five years ago or longer Gay 90s? Sadly a big difference. 100% agree on the rest of your comment as well.
I was at the Mall of America on Saturday and it was more like 25-1 in favor of the Hawkeyes apparel.
The Gay 90s used to be where the downtown crowd went after the bars closed. Is that still the case?Current Gay 90s? Or like five years ago or longer Gay 90s? Sadly a big difference. 100% agree on the rest of your comment as well.
Like, 5 years ago or longer. Think Kinky Friday from around 2014-15.

MPLS residents, this past summer we got into Owamni, by the Sioux Chef, named Top 50 restaurant by the NY Times. Opened in late July, we somehow got in the first week. Taste revolution, only uses ingredients available to native Americans prior to European intervention.
A month ago, a visit to YOUNG Joni, stunning "pizza" place. Get a reservation and end enjoy. The chef, who started with Pizzeria Lola and Hello Pies, in February opened Sooki & Mimi. Sookie & Mimi also made the NYT Top 50.
Got none of that in Iowa.
Just the football team. That's why they are the Vikings! (knee slap)I always thought they were Scandinavian up there mainly they must be Dutch.![]()
. I'll leave now.
All of this Mpls bar talk is making me nostalgic for 1980s and 1990s when I was young and on earth for the first time. Makes me miss old downtown. The old Loon Cafe was the cool after work place for downtown. Places come and go but the Loon is still there.

That's when it was fun. It's sadly not the gay bar it used to be...it's more of a 'gay themed' bar where every weekend it's overtaken by countless bachelorette parties. I don't know of many gay patrons that go there all that much anymore. Me and my friends haven't been there in years.
I had a buddy that sold beer at the Vikings games. He knew the team went the Loon Cafe VIP room upstairs on Sundays after home games. Down in the main bar, there would be a bunch of females waiting to get called upstairs to party with the NFL guys. Of course not all girls would get called up and my buddy was about the only male in the place on Sunday nights, so took advantage of the opportunity. All of this Mpls bar talk is making me nostalgic for 1980s and 1990s when I was young and on earth for the first time.
