I used to share your penchant for tipping but service standards have widely gotten horrendous at the same time that 20% is seen as standard.

I sat next to a guy at a bar with horrible service and said anymore things start at 20% and can only go down. That said there’s still some surprise cases where someone goes above and beyond and I will as well.

But people can earn and deserve 0-5% tips and I’ll give it to them if they really want it.
Yeah, I do not subscribe to some of these people who say if you can't afford to tip at 25% minimum you can't afford to go out. Some even put that percentage higher. I usually go 20% as the standard and often round up. But if service is truly horrible I have no qualms about giving them 10% and letting them know why.

Also if I am standing at a counter to order my food I ain't putting a tip on the credit card before I even know how they did. I will usually leave a couple of bucks for the people who have to clean up after us at a buffet but I'm not tipping 20%+ - a full service tip for partial service.

I believe in
Long hugs with my kids as long as they want/allow them
Hard work as a pillar of masculinity
Cold yard beers > hoppy double barreled hazy sours
The no ketchup on hotdogs is mostly posturing
Ketchup on Mac n Cheese
Everyone is allowed 1-2 brownstone accidents a year — they’re called accidents
Christ Jesus and His Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church (Orthodox)

I had no idea what that is so I googled it. Based on the resulting articles about the death of Charmayne Maxwell of the '90s group Brownstone, apparently a brownstone accident is when you fall and badly cut yourself in the neck with a broken wine glass. It apparently sometimes results in death.

Thanks, Google.

I don't care how many I am allowed a year, I don't want any of them...

I believe in cutting your own grass
Beer in the morning and coffee in the afternoon
Crewneck sweatshirts on a crisp, fall day
Being kind to children and animals
Buying a magazine at the airport
Bunting the runner over
Dive bar popcorn
Running the football
Fighting in hockey
The smell of gasoline, hardware stores, and cigars
A well poured pint of Guinness
Mustard and relish on a hot dog
Brunettes with green eyes
Early tee times and dew lines on the green
Waiting until December to put up the Christmas tree

I believe in:
In passing, looking strangers in the eyes, smiling and saying hello
It's not about how much you make, but how much you spend
Someday we will all understand that vaping is all bad
Religions that preach violence are not religions
Piano players who can play rock and roll are the greatest musicians
It takes kids to reach the age of 23 to fully understand the wisdom and intelligence of their parents

After cutting grass beer is the best beer
Dogs are your best friend
Nothing beats a good steak
College football beats pro football
God created us all equal
Mustard is the best condiment
We need more cool nights around a fire pit
Friday's are the best day of the week
The smell after a thunderstorm
Attending a good concert

I was actually at that dual. I was 11 years old and my older brother who was in his freshman year gave my parents and I the tickets as a Christmas gift.
7 year old me was there too. We had season tickets for a few years in the late 70s/early 80s. I remember being freaked out by the noise. It was loud!

I mostly remember them playing "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen at the end. Even 11 year old me totally was pumped even though I was too young to know why at the time!
