Nader was amazing in the KU game.

I really think having BDJ around last year hurt Nader the most. It seemed like Nader didn't want to look "out of place" to Bryce so he kind of stayed in his shell and didn't talk or show much emotion. Obviously the improvement this year can be credited to him having a great offseason and improving his body, but also he's not afraid to be more talkative and emotional which leads to him being more loose and relaxed. Maybe I'm off my rocker but just an observation I had.

To suggest that Thomas is undoubtedly the most improved is in no way a knock on Nader. Think of it this way:

Last year Nader was probably a better player than Matt. This year Matt is a better player than Nader. And Nader has improved...

That doesn't explain why people say "it's not even close", and it's also highly debatable.

These stats are a week old (from the other thread), but comparing 2014/15 to 2015/16 (change in parentheses)...

Player A
Points per 40 minutes: 13.0/12.8 (-.2)
Rebounds per 40 minutes: 5.2/6.7 (1.5)
Assists per 40 minutes: 1.8/2.3 (.5)
Steals per 40 minutes: .9/.8 (-.1)
Win shares per 40 minutes: .091/.113 (.22)
Field goal percentage: .368/.400 (.32)
3-point percentage: .330/.408 (.78)
Free throw percentage: .714/.867 (.153)

Player B
Points per 40 minutes: 14.2/17.5 (3.3)
Rebounds per 40 minutes: 7.1/7.7 (.6)
Assists per 40 minutes: 1.8/2.0 (.2)
Steals per 40 minutes: .9/1.7 (.8)
Win shares per 40 minutes: 1.0/1.7 (.7)
Field goal percentage: .406/.478 (.72)
3-point percentage: .217/.271 (.54)
Free throw percentage: .767/.825 (.058)

I personally, am happy for both players, Thomas and Nader. I saw that Thomas already had a thread, Nader needed a thread, and effusive thanks for great play. I also appreciate everything Thomas has done, and he and Nader seem to be getting better and more confident with each game.

I thought Nader deserved a thread after the KU game. He played amazing defense, hit key shots, made important rebounds, and didn't get much press. His second half was also about the same as the first half. Abdul is an amazing athlete and obviously in tremendous condition. I think it took tremendous games from several people, but Nader was steady and relentless throughout the whole game. I looked back and saw no such thread and decided to add it.

Couldn’t agree more. Nader doesn’t need to take to social media. He lets his play do the talking and it speaks volumes! He bought into the coaches vision, dropped 20 pounds and got into the best shape of his life. The guy literally lives in the gym. From what I heard, everyone on the team recognizes and maybe more importantly RESPECTS his extraordinary effort and energy. We saw glimpses of brilliance last year and now this hidden gem is really starting to shine! As Prohm said, "He's been terrific. I couldn't ask for anything more from him."

At 6'6", good ups, strength in driving the hoop with a good mid-range game, decent rebounder, improving defense is he an NBA guy? Just curious on everyones thoughts, for sure will make a lot of money playing basketball in the future.

I've been a doubter, but I have to say Nader and Monte have been our 2 best all-around guys the past 3 games. Nader seems like he has almost doubled his 3 pt %, steals, blocks, and rebounds in the past few games - an amazing improvement.

Wait till Nader misses a couple of 3s. McKay will be forgotten.

? Niang basically scored his season averages against KU. He had one "off" game @TCU...there's no trend whatsoever.
? Announcers are all over e r him. His "steps" traveling has everyone looking for the turnover. Weight problems are again dog tired running the court.

And we got a new player to target. It's cyclical.

I would definitely think so. If he can show consistent improvement and blow up in the tournament you can pretty well guarantee that kid is taking home a fat lottery check.

Niang is 0-8 on 3 pt and has 10 turnovers the last 2 games. He has traded places with Nader - who used to have turnover and 3 point shooting issues. He should be fine.
