The taxpayers that are pumping a lot of money into a nerd's hobby.

Every dollar invested in NASA has been returned fifty-fold in technological innovation.

You have a pretty dim view of humanity. We have minds with the capacity to explore and imagine. We should use them.

Maybe you meant this to be funny, but I find attitudes like this will be the downfall of our country. Unfortunately it seems to be the norm anymore and I'm losing faith that we will be okay. Any money spent on research is "wasted." Anyone with an education beyond the most basic level is chastised as an "elitist."

Ignorance of Constitutional rights, an extreme lack of basic mathematical and science skills, and a "me first" attitude of the general public are quickly destroying us.

We are Idiocracy.

You are exactly right. I think the republicans will end up nominating Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho for the 2012 election.

If so, I'm gonna head to Starbucks.

You need to just settle down and immerse yourself in a nice episode of the Kardashians or Jersey Shore. :jimlad:

Totally agree, screw those nerds and their life changing discoveries.

What you'll find in about every office at NASA:

"The SLS will have an initial lift capacity of 70 metric tons. That's more than 154,000 pounds, or 77 tons, roughly the weight of 40 sport utility vehicles. The lift capacity will be evolvable to 130 metric tons -- more than 286,000 pounds, or 143 tons -- enough to lift 75 SUVs."

I'm confused as to what we are going to do with all of these SUV's in space.

They must be Saturns.

Simple. Each of those SUVs can park in such a way to take up 4 parking spaces, thereby saving parking spots for an additional 300 SUVs

Actually our sun will never go supernova - it's not big enough. At the end of it's life cycle it'll go red giant and then die as a whimpering white dwarf.

That being said, I don't disagree with your post.

Thanks jdogg, I couldn't decide whether to include that or not because I couldn't remember if it was the right type, but I left it in.... red giant, supernova, either way, bad news for us if were still here!
