125- B+ Gave up a sloppy takedown late and should've got the tech, but Meza has showed a lot of promise. Will be excited to see how he competes against guys ranked top 20 in open tournaments this year.

133- B- Sloppy 1st period, but that was a nice blast double by Navy. Most encouraging sign was Frost finishing the last 2 periods strong with the weight cut. Glad he got that first match out of the way, because if he wrestled like that against Ayala, it wouldn't be pretty.

141- B He wrestled hard and competed all 7 minutes against a top 9 guy, but he's got to wrestle smarter. 1, not 2 in that situation and take your chances on your feet. Will be curious to see how J Frost does tomorrow and which one we go with against Block next week.

149- A Ech did Ech things. He still looks small at 149 to me, but he's so strong and talented that it doesn't seem to matter. Beat Parco next week and I'll be fully sold on 149 for Ech.

157- B- Kane showed promise on top, but needs to get better at bottom and develop some attacks. True freshman that has potential to develop, but probably needs a year or two to be there.

165- A Euton looked very good against an overmatched opponent. I wish he would've flashed that last week against Garvin. Starting to think our best lineup is Euton 165, MJ 174.

174- C+ I know the kid was top 20ish, but Riggins has to finish or learn how to finish those shots. He goes hard all 7 minutes and never gave up, but I need to see more from him. I have heard that TNT did not do much to coach him in Iowa City and Dresser still likes his potential, will just take some coaching from the staff to unlock everything.

184 A- Navy guy was very tall and pretty explosive. Bockman wrestled really smart and got it done when it mattered. I feel like he has a better chance to AA than Feldkamp did at this point last year, and if he can keep opening it up we might have something here.

197 A- CC is one of the most explosive guys on the team. When he decides he wants to go, not many people in D1 are stopping him. I still think there will be ups and downs this season, but as Dresser said, he has national champion potential.

Hwt A+ Yeah, we will be fine at Hwt next year. Herrera has legit wrestling skills and extremely good athleticism for a guy his size. Working with Yonger all year and next summer will do him wonders. He is going to be a fan favorite

Overall, better than last week and still plenty of room to grow. Excited to take on the Hawks next week

I think once Durbin gets Herrera built up we will be a force. He is pretty raw physically
Durbin told me this summer their goal with Herrera is to transfer some of the upper body strength to his lower body. He’s already pushing the weight limit, and is extremely strong for his age. Just needs to build up his lower body and he will be a force

I like the line up with PJ coming back. Feel like they are solid about at all the weights competing besides 74. Casey being out sucks but I think he's better at 49 anyways.

Durbin doesn’t get talked about enough for how good he is.

Herrera has looked good in both matches. If he is projected to take over heavy next year, where does that leave Bartelt? Carroll is locked in for 197. A good problem to have but would be nice to find weight class homes for all 3 top recruits. I think all are too big to cut to 184.

I think Bartelt could make 184 (similar to Bockman this year). He might be shorter than CC

I thought that Carroll has said publicly he wants to be at 97 and doesn’t want to be a heavy. Something about at 97 it will be easier to get into coaching when he’s done (didn’t quite understand that point but it’s what he said). Not that that couldn’t change.

Well looks like it's working so far. The Navy heavy almost looked bigger than Herrera but appeared a little top-heavy. Herrera ended up pushing him around pretty well.

When Herrera has to deal with Bastida everyday, that guy probably felt like toothpick.

When that guy shot in on carroll and carroll jumped over the back for that leg pass so crazy impressive. He has the physical tools to be a national champ and soon. I think he'll have some struggles this year, but I am really excited about him.

This part might miss here, but reminds me of when bdj (rip) transferred into the basketball team and in the first exhibition dunked from what seemed like the ft line. Some guys just have physical gifts you can't come close to teaching and they stand out when you see it.

Fairly new and novice wrestling fan here.

So tell me the truth... are we going to lose to Iowa again? Or should I get my hopes up?

125 - B+ would be an A, gave up the late TD. He always looks comfortable.

133 - B- - looked a little sluggish, but had enough late to get close to a MD. Didn’t look like his usual self on top. Will need to be better next weekend.

141 - C+ - decent grade, battled hard against a top 10 guy. Got sloppy on top and gave up reversal which was the difference. Very curious to see who gets the nod in Iowa city

149 - A - overwhelmed an inferior opponent like top guys should. I’ll echo some others, he has looked small out there against the first couple of 49’s.

157 - C - just doesn’t have much currently for leg attacks, needs time with Durbin and in the room. Clearly his strength is top wrestling, came close to B&A.

165 - A - positionally sound and similar to 149, manhandled an inferior opponent. Competition really steps up next weekend.

174 - C- - only reason this isn’t lower grade for me is because it was a ranked guy who has won matches ar NCAA’s and because he battles hard. Gets in on that sweep single but hasn’t been able to finish. Will be curious to see what we do at this weight.

184 - B - good positional wrestling. Kid from Navy was long and appeared pretty quick. A few times Bockman could have given up points but he has great feel. Him vs Arnold will be very interesting.

197 - B+ - He kind of lulls and then boom, you see the title contending potential. Navy kid tried getting physical with him a few times and got bullied. Arguably his toughest match of the year is next weekend, excited to see what he can do.

285 - A - future is so bright for Herrera at 285. I firmly believe he’d be a top 20 guy this year if he had to wrestle.

We haven’t seen the lineup that will be sent to Iowa yet. Iowa will be favored, and they should be, but in all honesty it’s hard to say when you haven’t seen half the lineup.

Agree I feel like we need to win 25 and 41 to have a shot and those weights are big mysteries for us and I think 25 is for them as well.

While this is true, I’m not sure it changes much on what we (at least me) think other than 157.

My opinion doesn’t change on who goes at 125, still think that’s a toss up.

141 now is most likely Redding and possibly Frost, we went from being favored to likely toss up or slight underdogs there.

157 - Paniro clearly is better suited for Teemer than Kane Naak, but still underdogs here.

165 - think we’ll see Euton

174 - whether it’s Riggins or MJ, Brands is a bad match up for either one. Straight at you and hard to score on. Will be tough for Riggins and won’t try to roll around with MJ.

285 - we know what we have with Yonger.
