On "Mike and Mike", Jay Bilas downplayed the idea of long sentences based on the fact that these might be important issues for college sports but US attorneys have much higher priorities. He said that you might be talking about "months" if anyone serves time.

Well Jay Bilas knows everything about everything, just ask him.

Well, even if it is only "months," if sleezeballs like Pitino, Pearl, etc are no longer allowed to coach, it would be well worth it.

It seems like all the talk has been around Louisville and Quick Rick, but what about the coaches programs actually named? (Arizona, USC, OKST, Auburn) I'd assume we should start hearing players/coaches from these schools as well.

I would think the statue of limitations would dictate how far they can go back.

Is this really what you were thinking of?

This article is very good.

"Today, everybody wakes up in an entirely new world: coaches wondering if the FBI is listening to their phone calls, administrators wondering who their employees are making deals with, fans wondering about the real stories behind all those crazy recruitments they’re addicted to following."

I'm one of those fans!!

if you keep your nose clean none of this mattered.

i wonder if prohm had a meeting with his coaches to confirm we've stayed out of trouble?

isn't this all driven by the fact you can't pay players? pay them and none of this matters.

also, how is this different than lobbying? "Hey financial planner, i'll recommend you if you can get me talks with the shoe company."

Why does this stop after we start paying players? I don't think this stops, or any additional compensation, if we move to pay college athletes. Someone will want more, someone will be willing to pay more.

Some ESPN talking heads really trying to defend Pitino by saying what's the big deal? This should be legal... ok??

Oh and to have Bilas on as a legal expert is funny. He has a law degree but that isn't his job. He doesn't know what the prosecutor's will or won't be charging and how long these guys will serve. Maybe he is afraid Duke will get dragged into this.

1.) Paying players would only up the ante on getting the high level guys. The behind the schemes money exchanges would still exist and I don't think that's even debatable.

2.) Tax evasion for starters...

People seem to be ignoring Arizona especially. I don't know why because it is obviously player #12 is Nassir Little ( who now says he is reopening his commitment..lol) and in the complaint he was getting paid 'a substantial sum' which is why they were telling Miami they needed to pay 150k. They are also alleged to have paid Jahvon Quinerly. Sean Miller and Arizona should not be pushed aside in this. Arizona landing Ayton seems to be shady as well.

You know he is a practicing lawyer, right?
