NCAA Spots Cashed & At Large

[Judoka]

Since all of our wrestlers have to qualify via the at large process this year. I thought it was worth starting a separate thread to keep track of who has cashed in their bids for NCAAs and who is going to have to wait and hope for an at large.

The allocations for each conference are:

Secondary Criteria
On March 9, wrestlers in each weight class will receive an updated Win %, RPI and coaches’ ranking that includes all competition through the qualifying events. Wrestlers who meet or exceed any two of the following criteria will be labeled “Bronze Standard”:

• .700 Win %
  
• Top 33 RPI
  
• Top 33 CR
  
• .700 winning percentage against all competition
  
• One win against a wrestler receiving automatic qualification via an earned position (pre-allocated)
  
• Qualifying event placement one below automatic qualification

Only Bronze Standard wrestlers will be eligible for selection as at large qualifiers. A wrestler must have participated in his respective conference or regional qualifying tournament in order to be considered for at-large selection to the championships. The NCAA Wrestling Committee will use the following weighted criteria, in priority order, to evaluate the Bronze Standard wrestlers

• Head-to-head competition — 25 percent
  
• Quality wins — 20 percent
  
• Results against common opponents — 10 percent
  
• RPI — 10 percent
  
• Qualifying event placement — 10 percent
  
• CR — 10 percent
  
• Win % — 10 percent
  
• Number of matches contested at that weight class — 5 percent

I'll update this thread with each tournament. I'm not going to go in to each school's stats page to try and figure out every single wrestler's record, so it is possible I'll make some incorrect assumptions about who initially earned the bid and I might guess wrong about people who are likely to be eligible for an at large. Along those lines, I'm not sure if the NCAA will actually release the updated coaches panel and RPI's on March 9th, or if we'll have to wait until the at large bids are announced on March 12th to find out the new rankings. In past years I don't remember them releasing the post-conferences RPI, and this is the first year of having the late coaches panel.

Wrestlers in bold are wrestlers who had earned an allocation but failed to cash it in. In most cases, they'll be at the front of the line for an at large.

Man, I know I'm just continuing to *****, but I seriously hate the change over to Trackwrestling from the NWCA Scorebook even more than usual right now. With the Scorebook I could really easily check everybody's D1 and overall records to figure out who is at large eligible, and with a few clicks find out who has quality wins and head to head results. Really easy to figure everything out. With Track that information isn't present, at least not anywhere that is remotely intuitive. The only way to find it is to go to individual school pages and hope that if they have a stats page at all it is up to date. WrestleStats is better than nothing but is an independently run site and is no better than its source data. D1Collegewrestling has more complete results but lacks the linking and ability to run reports.

I updated the at large list for the Pac-12. I'm using the current RPI/Coaches Panel rankings and assuming that the wins that Nevilsl and Eskram have over Silver level guys will stand. I don't think everyone on that list will actually end up being eligible once all is said and done.

Big Ten pre-seeds came out. Nothing sticks out that impacts us. Bo Jordan getting the #1 seed at 165 is probably the most notable thing, as he's the most likely guy to unseat Moreno for the #2 seed at NCAAs if he wins. Also that Penn State has Luke Frey listed at 157, not Dylan Alton, who was the name they submitted for the coaches panel.
