Alright since we are all cyclone fans and are always cautiously optimistic let me say it in a different way.

If this team DOES NOT make the NCAA tourney, will it be disappointing season in your minds?

Earlier in the year it looked like this team was NIT bound, but right now they are 7-3 in conference play and could be tied for 3rd tonight if Mizzou loses. If they miss the NCAA's it will be a disappointing season IMO and in the players opinion, especially since Chris Allen just said the other day he feels this team could possibly make a run at the National Title if they keep improving.

Apparently there are plenty of debbie downers on this board tonight . . . jeezo . . . first win in the state of Oklahoma in 15 years and no one is ready to call this an NCAA Tournament team?

At this point, I think we've established ourselves as the 4th best team in the Big 12, and that will definitely be good enough for the big dance.

If Mizzou beats Kansas tonight, we will be 1 game back! Forget the NCAAs - let's win the Big 12!

I could amend my caution from a previous post. This is turning into a team that's capable of an NCAA tournament lock.

At this point, it's becoming much simpler about how to get in 'safely' as a bubble team.

1. Win the rest at home. That guarantees no bad home losses, and an additional quality win (Baylor).

2. If (1) happens, one more road win cinches it. OSU could be a sub-RPI-100 loss, so winning that eliminates resume-dropping losses. The others (Baylor, KSU, Missouri) would count as good road wins (to varying degrees).

This team has the talent to win a lot more games, the coaching has drastically improved and I don't think there is a ceiling on what they can accomplish. Despite the recent string of wins, they don't seem to quite be there yet. Ill advised shots, defensive lapses, and at times the team lacks leadership. This is Royce's team, if Allen takes a crap shot Royce needs to be on him, if Ejim fumbles a no look pass, etc. Royce has the talent and has done a great job bringing others up a notch, I want to see him increase his expectations of his teammates and take this team to another level.

Can we officially say we are a tourney team now? We should be ranked on monday and as long as they take care of business this team will be in. NO MORE BUBBLE TALK!!

Good win tonight cyclones!
No, not yet. Still 8 games left plus conference tourney. Still need lots of work on defense and rebounding.

The way we've played on the road will be huge for the selection committee. When we crushed A&M, we just assumed they were that bad..but no one has embarrassed them the way we did..Tech really is just that bad. Our showing at Kansas was respectable too.. we had a chance to get the W there, and no one else in the conference has lost by less than 10 at Kansas. A team that can play well on the road will pass over a lot of other bubble teams..although hopefully we aren't mentioned as a bubble team.

If we win out at home we are in, and that's not counting the (at least) one we get in KC. Toughest games are going to be the OSU,MU,BU,and KSU road games, but with 3 road wins already that's still a respectable record.(In other words I'm not melting down on here like some people will if we don't get any of those.)Wish we'd have beat MU at Hilton though.

IMO, that's just wrong. If we win the 3 home games we should, then there's an 80% chance.

If we win 4 more games, we are a 99% lock.

When I think about it further, I think you're right to refute my post.

But I was pointing out the necessity of winning a game in the conference tournament — the actual percentage I chose was sort of random .

Depending on how many wins we have, conference tourney isnt necessarily a 'necessity'. I mean, if we're a 4 seed and lose in our first round (which is actually the second round) our loss will be to a 5 seed, which wont be a bad loss.

I'm doing a bracketology project...we are almost in the current "lock" status(the 19 best teams after the conference champions). Iowa State is around the 35-40 best team according to NCAA selection procedures.

So anywhere from a 8-10 seed right now...not bad and if they beat Okie St. and A&M they will be in my lock teams.

The bubble is pretty weak this year...even if we lose the next two game (doubtful) we'd be in the field..it's great to be a cyclone right now
